Scope of the Role:

Mercury are seeking a Senior Planner who will be responsible for a project or portfolio of projects (regional / sectoral). They will also be responsible for all aspects of planning, as defined by the Planning SOP

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Reporting to Planning Department Reporting to Business Unit / Project Management
  • Developing and maintaining schedules for pre-construction / construction / commissioning
  • Developing and maintaining progress databases
  • Progress reporting
  • Milestone projections, delay / float path analysis
  • Earned Value Management systems
  • Monitoring schedule performance and productivity
  • Auditing progress on site
  • Attending schedule meetings, liaising with client and subcontractors
  • Preparation of tender schedules
  • Preparation of histograms
  • Leading planning meetings
  • Supporting weekly workface planning systems
  • Resource / cash loading of schedules
  • Providing data for payment applications
  • Completing contract review reports
  • Responsibility for quality and accuracy of schedules and reports
  • Making relevant parties aware of issues and advising on solutions
  • Recording delay and disruption
  • Assisting in the preparation of claims and providing data for contractual disputes
  • Travelling to projects in order to carry out the above, if required
  • Managing, training, coaching, supporting, developing, leading staff, if required
  • Covering Planning Manager responsibilities when required
  • Covering Project Planner responsibilities when required
  • All other duties associated with role


Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Relevant qualification in Engineering subject and/ or Planning/ Project Planning
  • 7 years experience as a Project Planner/ Senior Planner on large scale projects
  • Experience with Data Centres would be an advantage
  • Experience leading a team of planners with excellent communication and organisation skills
