An important aspect of the development programme is the completion of a group research project. Graduates are split into small groups of four or five and assigned a strategic business project to research and present their findings to Senior Management. All topics are chosen by Senior Management and are relevant to Mercury's business.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- To undertake the detailed design and draughting of Sprinkler drawings for current projects
- Developing of Drawings and supporting documentation to Mercury Fire Protection standards.
- Oversee the Co-ordination process to transform design information into full installation drawings ensuring client spec compliance and Mercury SOP compliance.
- Assessment of Sub-contract and Supplier Tender returns for technical compliance with design intent specifications.
- Coordinate with the project planning department to ensure that every element of the project is delivered ahead of schedule.
- Management of the technical submittals and approvals.
- Management of the material procurement along with the ordering of material through SAP.
- Work hand in hand with the CMT to ensure that design; materials; manpower and schedule are all in place to enable the construction trades can deliver on time, every time.
- Ensure Works are installed in accordance with Project specifications and to the Project QA plan.
- The designers need to communicate with the CMT to ensure the most efficient methods fabrication and installation can adopted.
- Senior designers to sign off QA sheets following design review with designer
- Ensure uniformed drawings are prepared to Mercury design standards
- Review and understand design specifications, ensuring design teams are up to speed.
- Liaise with commercial team cost implications to design changes / progress issues
- Evaluate and promote the use of new engineering practices and processes to enhance delivery time of the project.
- Preparation and agreeing project completion criteria and close out documents and manuals
- Preparing Sub-contract and Supplier Tender Packages in conjunction with Project QS.
- Manage the Workpacks process from development, implementation and handover.
- Development and use of forward-looking indicators to ensure all elements of the project are delivered in accordance with the project objectives.
- Ensure the fire protection system is correctly installed to comply with all relevant standards.
- Delivery of accurate and detailed reports
- Attend site meetings

Competencies
- Experience using software such as AutoCAD, AutoSPRINK, Revit experience would be an advantage.
- Proficient is Microsoft Office.
- Problem solving. The ability to find solutions and handle design related issues.
- Collaboration and Communication.
- Ability to work within a team.
- Adaptability. Must show a willingness to learn and adapt to changes and feedback of design.
Essential Criteria
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum 1 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience in Construction Operations an advantage.
- Professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Professional certification.
- Travel will be required for this position.
- Good interpersonal experience and communication is essential.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Site survey work will be required.
- Full Irish driving license.
Desirable Criteria
- Ability to read and understand detailed drawings and construction documents and schedules.
- Previous experience working on large projects.
- Ability to work within office and site-based teams
- Experience in clash detection within 3D models using Navisworks and Revit.
- Knowledge of Autodesk ACC or similar online portals.
