Scope of the Role:

Reporting to the Business Applications Manager, the Business Analyst function within the team is responsible for assisting the business to review and improve business processes. Depending on stakeholder needs, this may be through re-engineering of processes with existing software or through the identification and implementation of new software.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Support the process of business change, improvement and efficiency by working with business leaders, process owners and relevant stakeholders to understand business requirements
    • Map end to end processes, highlighting business challenges and pain points
    • Understand the intended outcome of proposed initiatives
  • Deploy problem-solving methodologies and tools to diagnose and solve operational problems
    • Perform analysis to identify root cause problems of process breakdown & opportunities for improvement
    • Work with stakeholders to identify solutions and assess them for technical and business suitability
    • Complete research on market to locate suitable products/solutions, identify potential IT solutions partners and present options to business stakeholders
    • Develop business case, in conjunction with business owners to support Return On Investment type analysis
  • Define and document the requirements
    • Break complex business problems into clearly articulated requirements
    • Assist business stakeholders in prioritising the right business requirements
    • Create all required documentation such as RFI, RFP, business case, UAT scripts creation etc
  • Coordinate full project life cycles
    • Project admin tasks such as collation of data, documenting minutes & actions, scheduling meetings etc
    • Identify and advise on business and IT resources required to support any proposed projects
    • Coordinate all aspects of test cycles as required
    • In conjunction with the IT Adoption Analyst, develop & deliver appropriate change management
  • Assist post-process improvement benefit analysis
  • Software & Partner Contracts & Agreements
    • Conduct analysis of business needs for licencing requirements for new software and IT partners
    • Liaise with providers and/or partners to obtain appropriate quotations
    • Assist in renewal process through analysis of usage, assessment of business requirements and identifying suitable alternative options where suitable
  • Know the Business, Know the Industry
    • Build an in-depth knowledge of our business and forge strong working relationships across the full suite of departments, business units and sectors
    • Become an expert on our existing applications suite to assist identification of “best fit” solutions for the proposed initiatives, identifying gaps where applicable
    • Develop knowledge and understanding of technology trends and techniques
  • Develop strong understanding and appreciation of cyber security practices

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • 3 years+ experience in a similar business analysis role
  • A self-starter with the ability and experience in working independently with general supervision
  • Proven experience in development of documentation (such as business case, RFI, RFP)
  • Exposure to conducting UAT cycles.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising tasks, shifting priorities, fluctuating workloads, deadline pressures
  • Strong knowledge of current technology trends and techniques, with an awareness of new & emerging technologies
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture, on-prem and cloud IT environments
  • Ability to think on your feet, work independently and proactively with others to find solutions to issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, interacting appropriately with technical & business resources, driven but courteous
  • Creative thinking to deliver proposed solutions to meet new or changed business requirements
  • Willing to take ownership of tasks and driven to constantly go the extra mile to see them completed successfully
