Scope of the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Operations Manager to oversee our IT security operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our organization’s assets, employees, and information. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of security protocols and technologies, particularly ISO27001 standard.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Develop and Implement Security Policies: Create, update, and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage Security Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the security team, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance evaluation. Work closely with MSSP providing managed SOC(MDR), EPP, VMaaS.
  • ISO27001: Maintain and improve ISO27001:2022 processes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Play a key role in coordinating and preparing for annual ISO audits, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Security Awareness Training: Develop, manage, and plan a company-wide security awareness program to educate employees on security policies, procedures, and best practices. Plan and monitor ongoing training and development of security staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about the latest security practices and technologies.
  • Security Workshops: Coordinate and organize security workshops with senior stakeholders to promote awareness and best practices.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures.
  • Incident Response: Lead the response to security incidents, including investigation, documentation, and reporting. Coordinate with law enforcement and other external agencies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., IT, HR, Legal, sales, procurement) to integrate security measures into all aspects of the organization and partner with business operations to manage client and supply chain security requirements and audits
  • Security Systems Monitoring: Monitor and analyse the performance of security systems (e.g., surveillance, access control) to ensure they are functioning effectively.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on security operations, incidents, and trends to senior management. Provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Budget Management: Manage the security budget, including forecasting, allocation, and monitoring of spend.

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in security operations, and 2-3 years in a managerial or team lead role is desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of security protocols, systems, and technologies, including surveillance systems, access control, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, executing, and overseeing security projects.
  • ISO27001 Working Knowledge: Strong familiarity with ISO27001 standards is essential, given Mercury Engineering’s ISO27001:2022 certification.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Crisis Management: Experience in handling high-pressure situations and making quick, effective decisions during security incidents.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop effective security strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and external partners.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or similar are highly desirable.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure thoroughness in security measures and incident documentation.
