Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Overall responsibility for all works taking place on site, leading pre-planning meetings between the Mercury & supply chain partner teams to review & understand all aspects of the required deliverables ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Work closely with the Project Director/Manager & Commercial Manager as part of the project triumvirate, ensuring all KPI’s are delivered. Attending weekly site walks as a leadership team to discuss & record key project issues & achievements.
- Work closely with the client team ensuring a positive relationship is maintained. Promptly action & deliver on our requirements.
- Planning of the site set up & logistics through the various delivery stages of the project to ensure adequate facilities, access & conditions are in place prior to tasks to allow safe & controlled execution of the works. Ensure adequate resources are in place, in line with agreed budgets, to maintain the site conditions in line with expectations. Develop site branding plans in conjunction with our brand management team & ensure timely install to promote Mercury’s image within the community.
- Lead the way on promotion of a strong EHS & Quality culture on site through attendance at whiteboard, DABS, Last Planner, Collaborative Planning & SLT meetings.
- Ensure adequately trained & appointed staff are available on site to manage & oversee HRA activities such as, lifting operations (AP & lifting supervisors), COHE (SAP & AP’s), Temporary Works (TWC & TWS).
- Focus on delivery of the “Bringing Quality 2 Life” & Right First Time” initiatives by supporting package leads with supply chain partner understanding & involvement.
- Lead the development of the project target schedule including sequence story boards in conjunction with the site planner & ensure alignment with the Mercury & supply chain partner teams.
- Maintain an up-to-date awareness of the project commercial status through collaboration with the commercial team. Ensure any scope changes are communicated to allow recovery through the change management process.
- Maintain positive working relationships with our supply chain partners, listening to their concerns & resolving any issues promptly.
- Attend & actively contribute to the following meetings, ensuring action items are closed out within the agreed timelines:
- Weekly client meeting
- Weekly operations interface meeting
- Weekly internal meeting
- Weekly schedule meeting
- Monthly SLT meeting
- Whiteboard, DABS, Collaborative & Last planner meetings
- All other duties associated with this role and/or reasonably required by the Company. The Company reserves the right to vary the scope and nature of the Employee’s normal duties to consider changes in the Company’s work patterns and practices and the requirements of its business.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- Engineering Degree or recognised trade qualification
- 10+ years’ experience of managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
- Thorough knowledge of Civil, Structural and Architectural packages.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and interfaces.
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
- Ability to efficiently manage a team by setting expectations, delegation, and review.
- Strong communication & computer skills,
- Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
