Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental and sustainability across the group.

Ensure the Environmental and Sustainability elements of the external accreditations are delivered including Ecovadis, Sedex, and ISO 45,001.

Internally aim to assist both site environmental audits and compliance with our EMS and planning conditions.

Research HVO, engage procurement team with the environmental/sustainability elements, Waste reports and environmental management plan support to the teams.

Complete an Environmental/Sustainability course to assist Mercury - find one that can be rolled out groupwide.

Investigate the memberships Mercury is currently signed up to i.e., IGBC. Research sustainable low carbon concrete, diesel alternatives, plastic free options.

Represent Mercury on / at desirable external groups / bodies that are linked to our industry.

Ongoing monitoring of ESG related industry updates and requirements will require extensive monitoring and liaison with external support bodies to ensure we are aware of new requirements and trends in a reasonable timeframe before required.
- Assist the divisions with the CPD, Materiality surveys, tenders, and other external requests.

Liase with the financial team to collate and finalise the annual sustainability report for the group.

Finalise KPIs that are based on correct baseline assumptions.

Guide, train, coach, and mentor our team through the ESG journey by informing and educating the team on critical aspects and requirements for Mercury.
Essential Criteria for the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years’ experience in similar Roles.

Previous experience in Construction Operations.

Professional certification to level 7 QQI minimum

Qualified to Diploma level as a minimum with the qualification in Environmental or EHS
-
Travel will be required for this position.
