Scope of the Role:

Reporting to our Sustainability Director, we have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability and CSR Coordinator. This person could be based in our Head Office in Dublin. Travel may be required where appropriate.

Over the past twelve months, Mercury has created a responsible business plan that forms a key part of our wider Beyond50 strategy. Under the Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) pillar of Beyond50, our plan is titled Our Planet, Our Duty.

The key focus areas include supporting initiatives and communications that lead to outcomes under the four Sustainability Duties at Mercury:

  • Being an employer of choice.
  • Having responsible partnerships
  • Maintaining a minimised environmental impact; and
  • Supporting the wellbeing of local communities

As CSR coordinator, acts as a company’s ‘conscience’, championing and developing the ethical, environmentally friendly, and community-minded side of our business. The job involves creating links between our business and the communities in which we operate, raising positive awareness of the company’s commitment to sustainable social responsibility.

Implementing the CSR plan for 2022 and tracking progress of implementation would be one of the main areas of support and activities. Other responsibilities would include supporting awareness training and communications, and also live events for employees.

 

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Work with the Sustainability Director to develop and implement a CSR strategy that supports responsible business outcomes at local level through financial support, volunteer opportunities, in-kind contributions, and other strategic partnerships.
  • Support and manage some Sustainability and CSR initiatives, encouraging positive change through the company
  • Conduct online searches and engage with internal and external experts to plan for and engage with organizations in making sure our CSR planning and forward momentum is maintained.
  • Arrange events and campaigns supporting CSA objectives with input and involvement of internal and external parties as needed.
  • Work closely with the communications team to plan and execute on internal and external messaging around sustainability and CSR. Maintaining a communications tracking plan for reporting and progress monitoring purposes.
  • Supporting the delivery training and live events for employees
  • Plans and directs the company’s corporate giving and volunteer programs
  • Plans and develops policies or programs that promote good will and foster relationships with community leaders
  • Developing corporate charity partnerships with key NGOs including delivering of ongoing communication and engagement opportunities with them.
  • Build the pipeline for corporate support by identifying, researching and engaging local, regional and national organizations
  • Develop plan and timeline for corporate relationship development, solicitation and implementation, coordinating with executive staff and key volunteers as needed
  • Identify and build personal relationships with internal contacts/champions for each area of the business
  • Collaborate with Communications team to develop collateral, and support corporate partnerships through social media support and other platform opportunities
  • Represent Mercury at events linked with corporate giving/fundraising/volunteering
  • Ensure that request for sponsorships are fulfilled appropriately and in line with our donations and sponsorships policies

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Qualifications and experience in CSR projects (corporate giving practices) and planning and/or communications would be preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in CSR/Communications or general business support
  • Good business writing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Resilient – able to maintain productivity under pressure
  • Excellent English language skills – verbal and written
  • Self-driven and able to keep momentum on projects and agreed deliverables
  • Takes pride in delivering quality outcomes –general consistency in format of documents/ deliverables created
  • Good attention to detail and ability to complete compliance forms and questions in an accurate and complete manner
