Safety is our anchor value, and as a global contractor delivering complex projects alongside our multi-national clients, safety is embedded in our DNA.

Mercury is a proud partner of the CIF’s Construction Safety Month, and EU Safety Week 2022. We are looking forward to celebrating our safety culture throughout our key regions from October 17-28th.

Over 7,500 Mercury people, on 40+ projects will take part in safety month initiatives, including toolbox talks, training, practical demonstrations, stand downs, presentations, and more.

Speaking ahead of the beginning of our Safety Month initiatives, Michael O’Connor, Group QEHSS Director said: “Safety is our anchor value, and key industry events such as CIF Safety Month & EU Safety Week provide us with a platform to further demonstrate why Mercury’s reputation as a global safety leader is deserved.”

The theme of Safety Month 2022 focuses on celebrating best practice, while promoting the importance of safety, health, and overall wellbeing, not only in the workplace but also in applying the safety skills learned in work to our lives at home.

Mercury continues to influence best safety practices within our industry and has led the way on multiple programmes across international projects that benefit our own operations, those of our clients, and the construction sector. We are excited to demonstrate further our industry-leading safety practices throughout October, but also beyond as every month is safety month for us.

Michael O’Connor added: “We have recorded remarkable groupwide EHS performances this year, which we are very proud of. These achievements would not be possible without the dedication and buy-in of our people and management.’’

He continued, “In addition, our commitment to delivering industry-leading safety training and inductions, while nurturing a culture that supports the wellbeing of our people both inside and outside the workplace, has been crucial, and I would like to thank our team members for their continued dedication, and efforts to communicate, and coordinate works in a safe manner.”
