Scope of the Role:
The Procurement Specialist will support Group procurement strategy by analysing spend across projects, regions, business units and common spend types to identify where demand can be consolidated and Mercury’s Group spend can be better leveraged. The role will support sourcing initiatives and framework agreements that strengthen our negotiating position, improve commercial value, drive consistency, and deliver measurable benefit across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Spend Analysis & Opportunity Identification
- Review Group spend patterns, supplier usage and recurring requirements to identify trends, consolidation opportunities, pricing inconsistencies and areas for improved commercial value.
- Produce clear reports, insights and business cases that translate spend analysis into practical sourcing recommendations and procurement improvement opportunities.
Strategic Sourcing
- Support sourcing activity across recurring Group spend categories, identifying opportunities to consolidate demand, standardise supply arrangements and strengthen Mercury’s commercial position
- Evaluate suppliers, support award recommendations, and identify opportunities to improve value, quality and service.
- Leverage Group spend and supplier relationships to strengthen Mercury’s negotiating position and secure improved commercial outcomes across common spend categories.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Support strategic supplier relationships, performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and supply base optimisation.
- Engage with internal stakeholders across Group functions and business units to understand recurring requirements and support adoption of agreed sourcing strategies.
- Present findings, business cases and sourcing recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and commercially focused manner to support decision-making and adoption.
Framework Agreements, Governance & Reporting
- Support the development and implementation of Group-wide framework agreements and preferred supplier programmes.
- Promote procurement best practice, policy compliance and consistent sourcing governance.
- Develop reports to track spend, savings, supplier performance and value delivered.
- Contribute to procurement transformation, capability development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve spend visibility by reviewing data quality, supplier categorisation and reporting consistency across the business.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain or commercial functions.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience reviewing spend data and identifying commercial opportunities.
- Good commercial awareness, negotiation skills and ability to support sourcing recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with data analysis tools.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience conducting sourcing exercises, supplier negotiations or framework agreement development.
- Understanding of construction, engineering or industrial supply chains.
- Experience working across multiple countries, regions or business units.
- Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools to develop dashboards, trend reporting and procurement insights.
