Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Assist with the installation of Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 copper cabling within containment systems including overhead cable tray / basket and conduit.
  • Assist with the installation of fibre optic cabling within containment including overhead cable tray / basket and fibre management systems.
  • Learn correct cable management techniques including bend radius, pulling tensions, cable dressing etc.
  • Assist with the installation and dressing of fibre and copper cables within network cabinets and racks
  • Learn fibreoptic handling, cleaning, inspection and connector care procedures
  • Support the testing of fibre and copper cabling installation under the supervision of experienced technicians
  • Develop an understanding of fibreoptic test equipment
  • Assist with labelling of cables, network ports, network cabinets and racks
  • Develop an understanding of network drawings, schematics, cable schedules and installation standards
  • Develop an understanding of project handover documentation
  • Develop an understanding of housekeeping standards
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures
  • Attend daily toolbox talks, whiteboard and other safety meetings
  • Develop an understanding of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and other site-specific working procedures
  • Develop an understanding of the correct use of PPE including safety harnesses
  • All other duties associated with the role

  • Comfortable working in a construction environment

 

Desirable Criteria:              

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Previous construction, telecoms or electrical experience
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Basic computer skills ( MS Office Suite / Windows / MS Project)
