Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Champion the development of a professional, competent, and collaborative safety culture across sites.
  • Ensuring that industry-leading health, safety, and environmental standards are consistently planned and executed.
  • Advise and be a positive influence on all matters relating to Safety, Health, Environment and Wellbeing
  • Lead by Example: Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and integrity in all aspects of your role. Lead your team in all areas of EHS.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Offer sound, industry-leading health and safety advice to project stakeholders, supporting safe and compliant project delivery.
  • Project SMS – Ensure project plans are in place and up to date. Ensure 09-EHS folders & BIM/ACC platforms are up to date. Ensure conformity to Environmental legislation and plans completed and up to date.
  • Inductions & Onboarding – Deliver high standards inductions for new starters and ensure mandatory & role-based competencies are completed.
  • Collaborate – Attend meeting, communicate with project teams and trades in relevant EHS items. Support work planning and collaboration.
  • Conduct Audits and Inspections: Perform thorough audits and inspections at a frequency and level of detail aligned with monthly targets & project risk profile. Monitor site performance and implement improvement initiatives, based on KPIs and trends.
  • Support Incident Investigations: Attend sites following accidents or incidents to assist with investigations. In the absence of the Project Manager, take the lead in conducting the investigation.
  • Engage with Authorities: Liaise with enforcement bodies during site visits or investigations following incidents, ensuring transparent and professional communication.
  • Reporting: Assist the BU EHS Lead in compiling Health and Safety reports at designated intervals.
  • Client Engagement: Meeting clients needs, represent Mercury well and promote Mercury with all clients. Complete reporting as needed.
  • Maintain Coverage: Notify the BU EHS Lead promptly if there is a risk of insufficient Health and Safety coverage on any site.
  • Tender & Ariba Support: Support tender and Ariba prequalification process.
  • Project Start-Up Engagement: Attend project start-up meetings and participate in supply chain meetings & onboarding. Ensure projects set up correctly, including client contractual requirements.
  • Deliver Training: Provide relevant and effective Health and Safety training to site teams and stakeholders.

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

 

  • 3yrs Construction Industry Experience
  • 3yrs as an EHS Professional with a professional qualification
