Scope of the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to lead out on compliance management activities across Mercury.  The role will require working with all levels of management to ensure the company adheres to applicable legal, regulatory, and internal standards across all our operations. The role will be based in Mercury’s Head Office in Dublin but may require travelling to onsite locations across the Mercury business.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Design and manage a Compliance framework that addresses and prioritises Mercury’s key regulatory/Compliance obligations.
  • Manage the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of applicable compliance codes of conduct, policies and procedures
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments (ABC, Fraud etc.)
  • Oversee and monitor Mercury’s Compliance registers including the Gifts & Hospitality, Conflicts of Interest and Donation/sponsorship registers.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business regarding 3rd party onboarding compliance due diligence and assist in the preparation of responses to same from our clients/external parties.
  • Assist the business with any future growth opportunities to identify possible compliance risks
  • Develop training materials and train employees on relevant compliance topics, codes, policies, and procedures, and communicate emerging compliance issues to management and staff.
  • Oversee the Mercury Speak-up process and manage any compliance issues that require investigation.
  • Reporting and providing assurance to the Board on compliance related issues.
  • Horizon scanning to ensure ongoing compliance with any existing, new or emerging regulatory obligations
  • Supporting with any regulatory reviews/investigations.
  • Providing support to front line operations on ongoing compliance obligations.

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

The role requires a strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and a proactive approach to compliance management, collaboration with various departments, and strong communication skills. 

  • Proven capabilities in developing and rolling out compliance frameworks, codes and policies.
  • Demonstrable experience in a commercial environment as a Compliance Manager or similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills with solution orientated mindset.
  • Demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills.
  • A commercial mindset and demonstrable ability to work with varying levels of experience in compliance management.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Third level degree and relevant qualifications in compliance or risk management or equivalent.

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
