Mercury marks World Suicide Prevention Day 2026
World Suicide Prevention Day is an important moment to confront the devastating impact suicide continues to have on people, families and communities across the construction industry.
At Mercury, we believe a safe place to work is a safe place to talk. We are building a culture where our people know that support is available and feel able to reach out when they need it.
Last year, we launched the Mercury Wellbeing Hub, giving our employees one confidential place to access professional support for mental and physical health, 24 hours a day. More than 1,000 employees have now signed up to the platform.
That support extends into our workplaces through Mercury’s growing network of mental health first aiders. Trained to listen and guide people towards appropriate support, they help ensure our teams have someone they can turn to.
This year, we are also providing employees with EAP cards designed to sit behind their swipe cards. Featuring key wellbeing information and 24/7 emergency contact numbers, they keep support close at hand for our people.
Niamh Gilmore, Mercury’s Health and Wellbeing Coordinator, said:
“The response to the Wellbeing Hub shows that our people are reaching out and accessing support when they need it. We are continuing to build a culture where that support is visible, accessible and part of everyday working life.”
