Role Overview
The Risk & Compliance Intern will support the Risk & Compliance function in helping Mercury maintain strong governance, ethical business practices, and effective risk management across operations.
The role provides exposure to a broad range of compliance, ethics, third-party risk management, and corporate risk activities, offering valuable insight into how risk and compliance frameworks operate within a leading international engineering and construction organisation.
Role & Responsibilities:
-Risk Management

Support the maintenance and enhancement of Project, Business Unit and Corporate Risk Registers.

Assist in monitoring Mercury's principal corporate risks, associated controls, current mitigations and planned future mitigation actions.

Support risk owners with risk updates, reporting and tracking of mitigation actions.
-
Assist with the preparation of presentations, reports and governance materials.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement of risk templates, processes and reporting.
-Compliance & Ethics
-
Support Mercury's third-party due diligence, including screening subcontractors, suppliers and other business partners.

Conduct enhanced due diligence reviews, including sanctions screening, adverse media checks and Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) assessments.

Assess corruption risks associated with third parties using country risk indicators such as the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).

Support compliance activities relating to anti-bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, fair competition, anti-fraud, information security, supplier integrity and Speak Up reporting.
-Policies, Training & Awareness

Assist with the review and updating of compliance policies, (including Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Conflicts of Interest, Gifts & Hospitality and Speak Up policies)

Support the development and maintenance of compliance awareness and training materials.

Assist with employee communications and awareness campaigns around key compliance topics.

Contribute to the preparation of presentations for Board training, Speak Up awareness and other initiatives.
