Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Responsible for the organization and control of lifting operations for DCRF Unit.
- Responsible for liaising with HDC project teams to support the development and approval of all project specific lift plans.
- Assessment of the lifting operation to provide such planning, selection of cranes, lifting gear and equipment, instruction and supervision as is necessary for the task to be undertaken safely.
- Ensure that accurate weights, radii, heights, etc are established.
- Ensure that the ground is made suitable for taking up the loads to be imposed.
- Ensure that suitable access is provided to the site and any area required for erection and dismantling the crane.
- Ensure that adequate inspection and maintenance of the equipment has been carried out.
- Ensure that there is an effective procedure for reporting defects and incidents and taking any necessary corrective action.
- All hazards such as services above or below ground are identified and suitable precautions are taken.
- Manage and oversee lifting operations
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Supervise and coordinate site activities
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Monitor project progress and report to senior management
- Ensure approval is obtained from 3rd parties as appropriate and reflected in documentation and team briefings.
- Check that there is an Emergency Rescue Plan for the crane operator (as appropriate to the crane). Check for the presence of a Permit to Work (where applicable).
- Ensure that a Task Briefing is conveyed it to the whole lift team
- Direct and supervise the lifting operation, ensuring that it is carried out in accordance with the Method Statement (or Lift Plan) and Risk Assessment, giving clear and unambiguous instructions to all other members of the team.
- Confirm that the geometry of the lift complies with the Method Statement (in the case of non complex) or Lift Plan
- Be fully conversant with the duties of all persons involved in the lifting operation.
- Audit the qualifications of personnel involved in the lift, prior to commencement.
- Carry out training on behalf of the company to promote the discipline.
- Ensure that there is clear communication between him/herself and all team members.
- All other duties associated with this role and/or reasonably required by the Company. The Company reserves the right to vary the scope and nature of the Employee's normal duties to take into account changes in the Company's work patterns and practices and the requirements of its business.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- 7 years experience in Lifting/ Crane Management
- Level 6 AP Crane Supervisor certification
- Construction Site Management qualification and/ or working experience
- Must have excellent communication and organisation and site management skills
