Scope of the Role:
Experienced Project Manager to join our Change Management department. Reporting to the Change Programme Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for delivering a range of digital and organisational change initiatives across Mercury. These projects require strong coordination, cross‑functional leadership, strategic alignment and rigorous governance. The Project Manager is expected to manage multiple projects concurrently, engaging senior stakeholders, driving delivery, and ensuring readiness, adoption, and sustained value.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
The daily activities will vary depending on business requirements. It can be expected the scale and complexity of the projects will vary widely, therefore the extent of the deliverables of the project manager will be determined based on a project-by-project basis. However, the following describes a typical workload, but it is not an exhaustive list of activities:
- Support the process of business change, improvement, and efficiency by working with business leaders, process owners and relevant stakeholders to implement solutions based on business needs.
- Guide and challenge the business to ensure project related decisions are appropriate.
- Ensure project alignment with strategic objectives
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process re-engineering.
- Creative thinking to deliver proposed solutions to meet new or changed business requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, decision forums, requirements sessions and readiness checkpoints. - End-to-end project implementation ownership including
- Developing suitable project plans & project related documentation (such as risk registers, cut-over plans, change request requirements documentation etc)
- In conjunction with business owners, secure required resources for project success
- Identify resourcing conflicts, dependencies and operational impacts early.
- Manage communication, expectations and engagement across levels.
- Work with Change Management to ensure suitable impact assessments and training needs assessments are defined and incorporated into delivery schedule
- Ensure all documentation, impact assessments and readiness materials meet governance standards.
- Ensure appropriate test plans, scripts and cycles are conducted.
- Coordinate successful cutover activities - Business Readiness & Adoption
- Work with Change Analyst and Change Management Specialist to ensure organisational readiness for go‑live or transition.
- Validate readiness criteria, training, communications and resourcing.
- Ensure implementation sequencing mitigates operational disruption.
- Support hyper-care, transition and acceptance-into-service. - Project Governance & Reporting
- Produce high‑quality project artefacts (project plans, project charters, RAID, reporting etc).
- Maintain project documentation, version control and SharePoint repositories.
- Report accurately on status, risks and decisions needed.
- Ensure compliance with Change & Project Management Frameworks and delivery standards. - Financial, Risk & Compliance Assurance
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost controls in partnership with Change Programme Manager, Finance and business cost centre owners
- Ensure risks are assessed, mitigated and escalated when appropriate.
- Support compliance with legal, regulatory, cybersecurity or data requirements. - Multi‑Project Leadership
- Prioritise workload to run multiple concurrent projects (of varying tiers).
- Balance high‑impact initiatives with smaller strategic improvements.
- Manage time, resources and stakeholder bandwidth effectively. - Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to refine delivery methods and improve portfolio throughput.
- Contribute to updates of templates, processes, playbooks and project delivery standards.
- Support maturity growth of Mercury’s Change & Delivery capability.
Competencies:
- Strong capability in managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong negotiation skills with financial business acumen
- Ability to influence without direct leadership and address conflict resolution
- Strong project planning, RAID management and governance experience
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- 3–5 years’ experience in project management of project delivery
- Project management qualification
- Proven experience delivering non‑construction business or digital projects
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-initiatives simultaneously
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in digital transformation, ERP, SaaS or automation projects
- Experience in organisational change or operational transformation
- Change management experience is a distinct advantage
- Exposure to complex project delivery advantageous
