Role Overview
The Mobility team supports the movement of employees across Mercury's international footprint, enabling business delivery while maintaining compliance, cost control and a strong employee experience. The role supports mobility activity including relocation, immigration, assignment planning, documentation, vendor coordination, employee support and accurate case tracking. This role is both operational and managerial.
The Mobility Lead will personally manage complex or sensitive mobility cases while also allocating work, providing day-to-day guidance, reviewing outputs, improving processes and ensuring consistent service delivery across the mobility function.
This role will act as an escalation point for HR, Talent Acquisition, employees and business leaders on mobility matters. The Mobility Lead will help move the function from reactive delivery towards a more structured, advisory and insight-led service aligned to business needs.
Reporting to the Head of HR Operations, this role will be based in our Global Headquarters in Ballycoolin, Dublin 15
Hybrid Working Model- 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day delivery of the Mobility service across business units and global locations, ensuring activity is aligned to business objectives, employee experience and compliance requirements.
- Manage complex end-to-end mobility cases, including transfers, secondments, relocations, immigration, repatriation and related legal, tax, payroll and financial considerations.
- Line manage the Mobility Coordinator, including work allocation, coaching, regular check-ins, prioritisation support, performance feedback and development planning.
- Act as the escalation point for complex mobility queries from HR, Talent Acquisition, employees, managers and business leaders, providing clear advice on policy interpretation and practical options.
- Oversee work permit and visa activity, ensuring applications, supporting documentation and compliance checks are progressed accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external advisers and vendors, including immigration, tax, relocation and legal providers, supporting issue resolution and monitoring service delivery against agreed standards.
- Own and maintain mobility process documentation, templates, trackers and case management standards to ensure consistency, auditability and confidentiality.
- Identify opportunities to improve mobility policies, processes, controls and data tracking so that the function remains compliant, competitive, cost-effective and aligned to business needs.
- Prepare mobility updates, insights, reporting and recommendations for HR and business stakeholders to support decision-making and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with immigration, tax, employment and assignment-related requirements, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers where specialist advice is required.
- Collaborate with HR Operations, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Reward, Payroll, Finance, Legal and Business Leaders to deliver a seamless mobility experience.
- Support wider HR projects and initiatives where mobility input, governance or employee movement expertise is required.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in Global Mobility, international HR operations, immigration, relocation or a closely related HR role, including experience managing complex cases.
- Experience supervising, coaching, mentoring or managing the work of another team member is required or strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of international assignment processes including work permits, visas, relocation logistics, compliance requirements and employee support considerations.
- Ability to partner effectively with HR, Talent Acquisition, business leaders, external advisers and employees across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proficiency in HRIS, Microsoft Office and tracking tools, with the ability to maintain accurate records and produce practical reports or updates.
- Ability to independently evaluate issues, identify risks and make sound recommendations within the scope of the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, international relations or a related field is advantageous.
Desirable Criteria
- CIPD membership or equivalent HR qualification is desirable.
- Experience working in-house within a global mobility or international HR environment is preferable.
- Experience contributing to policy, process or service improvement in a growing international business is desirable.
