Scope of the Role:

Reporting to the Project Director (PD), the Senior Project Manager will be a self-starter working on their own initiative. They will be responsible for the management and co-ordination all aspects of the Project as they relate to the project scope of work.

Leading and managing the Project Team and interfacing with the Client Team, the SPM will set clear direction and expectations for the Safe, on time, on budget delivery of the fully integrated build. The core project management team, of which you are a key part, will create the vision, provide leadership, set targets, create processes and procedures, manage the Quality and ensure adherence to all EHS requirements across all projects.

Mercury Procedures

  • Ensure Mercury Procedures are in place and being adhered to on your project
  • Ensure you and your team have fully reviewed and understand the Project specifications and documentation.
  • Plan procurement and ensure engineering is developed to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all Material Take Offs are completed to compare with Sub-Contractor pricing returns
  • Review quality of output and foster continuous improvement
  • Periodic attendance at planned meetings, TBT, SLT, DABS.

 

Specific requirements:

  • Management of Site Safety in conjunction with the project team and the Mercury Safety Advisor. This will include the set-up, management of and closing out of the safety file
  • Management of Site QA in conjunction with Mercury QA Manager including set up, management and close out of file
  • Management of Project Schedule in conjunction with Mercury Project Team, Consulting Engineer and Client requirements
  • Management of all costs associated with Project including:
    - Labour
    - Material
    - Plant and Equipment
    - Variations
    - Valuations
  • Management of all day-to-day site operations
  • Management of sub-contractor activities including tracking progress against schedule and manpower levels. Ensure that there is are weekly minutes of meetings with sub-contractor.
  • Management of the Mercury “In Progress” snagging system ensuring that the supervisors return weekly punch lists where applicable.
  • Issue direct labour hours and sub-contractor hours to time administrator for tracking centrally.
  • Attendance at Site Meetings, Internal Project Reviews, Engineering Reviews, Planning and Co-ordination Meetings and Handover Meetings
  • Close out of all project items including Final Account, O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re-locations, Project Plan – all with the support of the site project manager
  • Upload to the project File key system, with the support of the project QS, internal weekly progress report rolled up from project supervisors report. This will highlight progress percentage complete based on WBS codes and any concerns. It should also highlight any risk elements within the control of Mercury, eg: late deliveries.
  • Issue external weekly progress report, to all stakeholders, highlighting areas not available, and delays, shortage of design, third party hold ups and percentage.
  • Ensure all Sub-contractor documentation including safety documentation is maintained up to date and filed for future reference.
  • Close out of all project items including Final Account, O & M Manuals, Punch List, Safety File, QA File, Material and Plant re-locations, Project Plan – all with the Support of your Project team.
  • Issue weekly safety stats & project labour projections.
  • Hold weekly commercial meetings with the commercial team to ensure all variations are being captured and costs issued to the client.
  • Develop and implement company procedures with the package managers
  • Ensure change management is handled correctly (Cost & Programme).
  • All other duties associated with this role

 

EHS Alerts

  • Ensure that all EHS alerts are communicated effectively
  • Engage in the campaigns being run to reflect the alerts – TBT, Stand-down, Demonstration
  • Ensure Workforce participation.

 

Project Weekly Report

  • Assist in development of the weekly Progress update with the Project Director, Project planner and implement strategies to ensure project remains on track.

 

Weekly Audits

  • Implement Mercury Project audit plan
  • Review weekly Project audits and address open items with your team
  • Discuss findings and trends with your Construction Manager, your team and the BU Leads
  • Ensure Audit findings are clearly communicated to all stakeholders
  • Drive closure of all open Audit findings

 

Training

  • Assist in developing detailed training matrix for the project team.
  • Make training available to your team and your Sub-contractors.
  • Set standards for training requirements for Mercury and Sub-Contractor staff

 

Weekly Planner

  • Use the project lookaheads to drive the project
  • Co-ordinate with the various Project teams to ensure your dates can be achieved.
  • Update and manage project risk register in conjunction with the commercial team.

 

Operational excellence

Bring operational excellence across all aspects of the project delivery including:

  • Site presentation, cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Sub-contractor engagement across QEHS, schedule and risk.
  • Weekly Safety walks on site. Lead SOR engagement by example
  • Project Audits. Ensure these are being delivered with outcomes attended to.
  • Focus on Client relationship and client Interface
  • Project Team Management

 

Guide and assist your project team

  • Align your expectations with Project requirements
  • Ensure your expectations are clearly understood
  • Empower you Construction Manager to set up a functional site
  • Set clear expectations and track against the KPIs

 

 

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Engineering Degree or recognised trade qualification
  • 5-7 years’ experience of managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
  • Thorough knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural and Architectural packages
  • Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
  • Ability to efficiently manage a team by setting expectations, delegation, and review.
  • Strong communication & computer skills,
  • Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
