Wellbeing

At Mercury, we know that happy teams achieve more. We want our people to enjoy what they do and achieve their full potential every day. We prioritise our "WORK SAFE | HOME SAFE" motto at every level of the organisation and the mental and physical wellbeing of our people comes first.

To ensure a supportive environment, Mercury offers a robust employee Wellbeing Programme- available to all employees through our internal Wellbeing Hub which is powered by PepTalk. Wellbeing marks a significant strand of our Responsible Business plan, 'Our Planet, Our Duty'.

ONGOING WELLBEING & SAFETY INITIATIVES

Mercury's teams take part in a number of regular wellbeing & safety initiatives across all projects internationally.

European Safety Week - Mercury celebrates safety week every year and are proud partners with the Construction Industry Federation (CIF). A number of live and virtual events and toolbox talks on a variety of safety & wellness initiatives take place across all projects & office locations.

Mental Health First Aid Training - Each month, Mercury delivers Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training across its projects. MHFA is the assistance offered to a person who is experiencing or developing a mental health problem or crisis. This training allows our team to support each other until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. The training has led to stigma-breaking mental health discussions throughout Mercury. Our aim is to create a culture where such conversations are the norm, rather than the exception. For more information on Mental Health First Aid Ireland, read more here.

Making Safety Personal - Mercury’s health & safety culture is recognised as industry leading worldwide. Safety is embedded as a core value in our DNA and is always at the centre of our daily work practices. We believe that making safety personal through the use of behavioural psychology programmes is key to reducing on-site accidents.

National Days - Mercury Teams across Europe unite to commemorate significant national days throughout the year. We celebrate various occasions, such as National Cancer Day, International Women's Day, and World Mental Health Day, by organising team events like coffee mornings and team building activities. Additionally, we raise funds for crucial charities within our respective jurisdictions.

FITNESS & HEALTH

Our workplace health and fitness initiatives create a supportive environment for our staff, encouraging them to prioritise their physical wellbeing. Throughout the year, we organise various fitness challenges via our wellbeing partner, PepTalk, such as the Bounce Back Challenge and the 10k Steps per Day Challenge. In addition our people have access to a wide range of delicious recipes on PepTalk from popular chef Eoin Sheehan.

Mercury facilitates team fitness challenges, which allow our project teams to come together and compete as a group. These challenges not only promote physical fitness but also foster team bonding which is crucial for our mental health.

We also offer a diverse range of sports clubs and social activities within our organisation, including hillwalking, soccer, cycling, and paddle-playing.

In addition, we provide our employees with a range of health and life insurance group scheme options and discounts.
