Mercury’s quality-first data centre solutions

Nemanja Jovanovic, Director of Quality at Mercury has learned the importance of communication throughout his career, firstly in Europe and then further afield in the Middle East. “On large-scale construction projects, quality means ensuring there are systems in place, so the building fulfils its requirements and client expectations are met. My role involves communicating these systems to the wider Mercury team to guarantee we build consistency across our projects.”

Nemanja is dedicated to designing clear, high-performing quality management systems that elevate delivery standards across the board. His holistic approach integrates precise project planning, focused training programmes, and disciplined execution—consistently ensuring defect-free results well ahead of handover that meet customer satisfaction.

He qualified as a Civil Engineer in his native Serbia and gained initial construction experience before completing an MsC in Structural Engineering and making a bold move to the Middle East. “I was fortunate to work on projects early in my career that gave me a fantastic introduction to quality concepts.” Nemanja gained experience on the construction of a brand-new metro system in Doha, as a Senior Quality Control Engineer. He managed all Civil, Architectural and MEP sections of a specific metro station. After five years on this project, he took on a new role as Quality Control Manager on the construction of the 53-storey JW Marriott Hotel, also in Doha. “I gained a quality way of thinking and learned that an effective Quality Management System is absolutely crucial to achieve customer satisfaction.”

When he was ready to return to Europe, Mercury was Nemanja’s number one choice- “I was passionate about working on the biggest projects and getting the chance to develop in my own role, and Mercury provided that.” He joined in May 2022 as a Divisional Quality Lead, where he developed and implemented a Quality Management System on multiple data centre projects across Europe. Earlier this year he took up a new role- Director of Quality. As well as leading training and development sessions with construction teams on projects across Europe, Nemanja now oversees quality on all Mercury projects, where he drives continuous improvement and consistency. He oversees audits, inspections and regulatory compliance, while standardising Mercury’s industry-leading Quality Management System.

Nemanja is proud of the “Right First Time” mindset that’s front and centre among Mercury teams. “Our clients are some of the largest organisations in the world and we pride ourselves on executing projects to the highest standards and most precise specifications. We follow best practices every day to meet our clients’ vision every time.” Mercury’s approach to quality focuses on collective responsibility but is also distinctly digital-first. The environment and sectors that we operate in, from data centres to semiconductor to Life Sciences, demand complex solutions and our leading-edge quality processes and systematic consistency sets us apart.

This week teams across projects have been taking part in several interactive demonstrations and presentations on a range of key topics to mark Quality Week 2025.
