Mercury invests €25 million in state-of-the-art engineering and offsite manufacturing facility in Germany

As part of our evolving Go Beyond strategy, Mercury has committed to a €25 million first phase investment for a new engineering and offsite manufacturing facility in Schönebeck, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The second phase of the facility development may see investment grow to €45 million.

Mercury is the leading construction solutions provider in Europe operating in key sectors including Data Centre, Semiconductor, and Life Sciences. Currently, Germany is Mercury’s largest market with the region contributing close to €500 million in turnover, making this investment a major strategic step for the company. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as an engineering hub that will host a team of over 200 professionals delivering design, BIM, and value engineering services to support our multinational clients across our core sectors. In addition to offering engineering expertise, it will also operate as the principal OSM fabrication headquarters for mainland Europe.

The multimillion-euro investment will further enable the engineering and construction company’s expansion across Europe.

Mercury has long standing OSM operations across multiple sites in Ireland with a wide supply chain of 70+ modular construction partners throughout Europe. Current operations are capable of delivering carbon, stainless and high-purity process pipework to our clients across Europe. The Schönebeck facility will provide 25,000 square metres of manufacturing and operations space, allowing for faster delivery and increased productivity using cost-effective methods and processes.

Mercury CEO, Eoin Vaughan commented, “Mercury’s focus on sustainable growth and high-quality and certainty of delivery to our clients is a top priority for us. Our capital investment in Germany that will develop a new engineering and OSM fabrication headquarters for mainland Europe demonstrates the commitment to the next phase of our ambitions as a pan European leader in the Semiconductor, Life Sciences, and Data Centre spaces.”

Commencement of building works of the facility will begin in mid-2024 with an operational date of May 2025.
