Mercury delivers final phase of Global Switch’s Frankfurt North data centre

We are pleased to announce that Mercury has delivered the final phase of Frankfurt North for our valued client, Global Switch.

The last phase of this project saw our team delivering the fit-out of additional electrical and cooling infrastructure, through the completion of the remaining two new technical suites, extending the IT capacity at this data centre.

Our scope of works on this project included the installation of transformers and RMUs, battery rooms, LV switch rooms, and generators with associated works. Our team also completed the fit-out of mechanical cooling infrastructure, including hybrid dry coolers, chillers, CRAH units, and all associated circulation pumps.

Phase 2 was completed over a twelve-month period, in an intricate live environment setting. Mercury originally delivered the first phase of this project in 2019, constructing a data centre of 11,862 sqm with 14MVA of utility power supply capacity, adjacent to our client’s existing data centre, Global Switch Frankfurt South. Frankfurt North has been independently verified by CBRE to deliver an annualised PUE at full load of 1.11 and through collaboration between Mercury and Global Switch is scheduled to obtain BREEAM “very good” certification.

Phase 2 of Global Switch Frankfurt North was carried out by our Data Centre & Building Services Division (DCBS), which includes Alan Clinton, Managing Director, John Crawford, Operations Director, Brian Collins, BU Lead, Stephanie Hoffman & Djamel Goubid, Project Management, and a multi-faceted project team.

Brian Collins, Business Unit Lead for our DCBS Division commented: “We are delighted to maintain our strong relationship with Global Switch in Frankfurt. We have collaborated with this client on several prominent data centre projects throughout Europe in recent years. At Mercury, we deliver our clients’ vision through leading-edge construction solutions. Our commitment to the client puts them at the centre of everything and positions Mercury as a strategic partner.”
