The latest episode of our Visa Interview series focuses on Megan Parker.

Megan, who is originally from New Brunswick in Canada, joined our team in October 2021, and currently works as a Mechanical Engineer in Frankfurt, Germany.

Mercury is currently recruiting for over 200 positions throughout Europe. Last year we hired people of 31 different nationalities. With operations spanning across more than 12 global locations, and 6,500 people under our management now is an exciting time to join our ever-growing team.

If successful in the interview stage, we can support your visa application if required, and accommodation can be provided if applicable.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

“I come from a small village in New Brunswick, on the east coast of Canada. After completing my mechanical engineering degree in the University of Alberta, I became a piping materials engineer and have been working on various oil & gas, pharmaceutical, and data centre projects.”

What are the main differences between working and living in Europe vs Canada?

“The big difference for me, is that I can jump on a train and be in another country, listening to people speaking in new languages in a matter of hours!”

When did you first hear about Mercury and how long have you been working with us?

“I first heard about Mercury when I started researching the data centre industry and have now been working with the company since last October.”

Would you recommend other people from abroad to work with Mercury in Germany, or Europe?

“Yes, I would recommend anyone looking to move into a fast-paced industry to consider a career with Mercury. Germany is a great place to live, it’s relatively easy to find your way around and there are a lot of options to travel and see more of this part of the world. Mercury also provides us with the opportunity to learn German.”

How did Mercury support you in the visa process?

“Mercury set me up with a third party to guide me through the visa process. I have been working in Europe for a couple of years and have been through the process in other countries, however each country is unique. And the pandemic made things a bit tricky as we had to limit face to face interactions. But I was given clear guidance on what to expect at each visa appointment right down to the directions from the tram stop to the door.”
