Mercury is pleased to announce the addition of dedicated, wellbeing-focused segments to our Toolbox Talks (TBTs) in order to further highlight the importance of mental and physical health to our global teams.

This initiative, which was introduced on April 1st 2022, has been implemented across our 40+ projects, focuses on asking our employees what matters to them in terms of personal aspirations, life goals, and relationships, while also exploring how Mercury, as a leading contractor, can align to meet the personal values of our people and supply-chain.

As an employer of choice, we recognise that personal wellbeing is a subjective experience. By cultivating a positive and engaging working environment that supports and nurtures, we believe that our staff are better placed to deliver best-in-class results.

The roll out of this initiative means that our employees are engaging in up to 30,000 wellness-related conversations every month. We believe that we can create a more comprehensive EHS programme, that aligns with our Work Safe, Home Safe culture, by merging our wellness and safety messaging.

Our wellbeing journey has developed significantly over the past five years. In 2017, we launched project wellness boards and our Making Safety Personal (MSP) wellness module. This was followed by the 2019 launch of PepTalk, our wellbeing app. The recent introduction of the Spectrum Life app has further bolstered our wellbeing programme. However, we noticed that not all employees use their phones or social media on a regular basis and decided to bridge this gap through meaningful and relevant wellbeing discussions during our Toolbox Talks.
