Mercury safely completes 10.5 million hours reportable injury free in 2021

Mercury completed an incredible 10.5 million hours worked recordable injury free in 2021.

This achievement is a testament to the dedication of all our employees and supply-chain partners who are living Mercury’s anchor value of safety.

Our safety efforts are global, with our teams carrying out works on 40+ projects across 12+ countries last year. 2021 saw us maintain an Accident Frequency Rate (AFR) of 0.06 for the second successive year, well below the industry average.

Michael O’Connor, Group EHS Director said: “The outstanding project results achieved by Mercury’s teams across Ireland, the UK and Europe are something our people should be proud of. These achievements and milestones for 2021 reflect the hard work, dedication, commitment, core safety values and standards that our management and teams strive for and ensure that our people can work safely and return home safely every day. Congratulations to all who contributed to making this fantastic achievement happen. I would like to thank all of our staff and supply-chain partners for supporting and collaborating with us to achieve these incredible milestones. Ultimately we are all one team and every member strives to get our people home safely to their families every day.”

Key safety stats and milestones from 2021 include:

  • Seven months working without a recordable injury.
  • Over 40,000 EHS audits completed.
  • Over 15 million hours worked with an AFR of 0.06.
  • Over 15,000 EHS inductions completed online for 2021 (staff & subcontractors).
  • Over 3,500 Covid-19 audits since the beginning of pandemic.
  • Mercury’s City & Guilds accredited SVSM training course launched January 2021.
  • ISO 14001 Environmental re-certification in February 2021.
  • ISO 45001 OHS Accreditation in May 2021.
  • ISO Integrated QEHS Management Systems Certification with NSAI – November 2021
  • Safe T Certification A rating in December 2021.
  • Construct Secure 100% compliance rating.
  • 3 x External confidential clients annual EHS audits all resulting in A++ rating.
  • Confidential client feedback: “Mercury are the benchmark for global safety standards.”
