2021 marks the 10th anniversary since Mercury first introduced our ’12 Days of Christmas’ safety campaign in the approach to the holiday period.

As industry leaders, the purpose of this safety drive is to re-focus our 8,500+ people and supply-chain partners on the key basics of health and safety to ensure all stakeholders get home safe and well to their loved ones.

Through practical demonstrations, inductions, toolbox talks and safety awards our EHS teams on 40+ projects in 12 different countries across EMEA led an interactive safety campaign focused on the following High Risk Activities:

Material Handling, Driving, Lifting Operations, Noise, Extreme Temperatures, Mobile Equipment, Hazardous Materials, Working from Heights, Ground Disturbance & Confined Spaces, Energy Isolation, Electrical, Infectious Disease Control/Covid-19.

Exercises were carried out in a variety of European languages to cater for our diverse and multinational workforce, demonstrating the global nature of our safety efforts and the scale of our operations across a number of key sectors.

Robert O’Dowd, Group EHS Manager said: “Promoting safe behaviors forms a critical part of what our Mercury teams do on a daily basis across our projects in the regions we operate in. The objective of our “12 days of Christmas” safety campaign is to remind our people and supply-chain members to be extra mindful when undertaking their daily tasks. By sticking to our Work Safe Home Safe approach we will all greatly reduce the likelihood of injury on our projects. Plan the task, stick to the plan and go home safely. Thanks to all of our managers, people and supply-chain partners for their dedication, professionalism, commitment and consistent approach to safety which has greatly contributed to us achieving our EHS goals year on year. Your efforts and that of your respective teams are greatly appreciated.”
