Mercury has recently completed a data centre lab in Horizon College in Hoorn, Netherlands, in partnership with Microsoft and Horizon College. The Datacentre Academy was launched on Friday 15th November 2019. The aim of this initiative is to train IT students in a number of courses related to the data centre environment. The business community is in great demand for well-trained technical data centre professionals.

With the arrival of this realistic lab, students in the Netherlands can prepare themselves effectively for the jobs market using the latest and most modern innovative equipment. The students will obtain a level 4 diploma in ICT networking. After obtaining the initial diploma, they will be able undertake a bachelor’s degree or begin working as a network specialist. Microsoft has also entered into a partnership with Horizon College and Mercury to train local staff.

“We’re delighted to be working closely with our partner Microsoft to launch the datacentre academy in Horizon College in Hoorn, Netherlands” said Ger Geraghty, Head of Mercury’s Technical Support Services (TSS) at the launch. “Mercury is working on a number of data centre projects in the Netherlands as well as several in Germany, the Nordic countries, Spain, the UK and Ireland, working directly with clients in a general contracting capacity as well as providing ICT and DC Fitout services. We’re proud to be helping students learn how to work in data centres, which grows more important as the industry continues to grow across Europe”.
