Mercury’s Quality Mentoring Programme: Unlocking the power of collaboration

As the European leader in construction solutions, quality means everything to us and encompasses all that we do. Our high standards and commitment to delivering the vision of our clients is what sets us apart.

To ensure our people can always provide leading edge results, our quality team focuses on the importance of continuous improvement for everyone across Mercury- striving to enhance processes and practices at each stage of work on our projects. This keeps us ahead of the game and ensures we are aware of the latest advancements across our industry which is crucial when delivering complex construction projects for some of the world’s largest corporations. Central to ensuring quality results on our projects is utilising innovative digital construction tools and providing opportunities for our people to further develop and expand their skills, to lead with confidence and expertise.

Last month marked one year since the launch of Mercury’s innovative Quality Mentorship Programme, which connects subject matter experts from across Mercury’s European teams. The mentoring programme involves interactive workshops where best practices are discussed and agreed to help improve SOPs, processes, and procedures. The sessions help further advance our dedicated quality professionals with our open culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Hosted monthly, the sessions are led by Mercury’s Group Head of Quality, Craig Connor, and cover different topics to help our teams remain at the leading edge of industry.

Subjects covered have included Mercury and industry lessons learned, Benchmark quality and consistency of standards, data and analytics trends, audit guidance, electrical testing and verification, new snag categories and case studies, as well as taking an in-depth look at what Craig describes as “the cost of quality”- the impact poor-quality work can have on all stakeholders.

Reflecting on the success of the sessions over the past twelve months, Craig says “the introduction of a quality mentoring programme has been instrumental in connecting our teams across Europe to openly learn about important new developments and ensure they are leading the way with forward thinking approaches to guarantee we deliver high quality results for our valued clients consistently.”

By encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, we are well-positioned to continue delivering unparalleled quality results and enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our operations.
