TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHERE DID YOU GO TO COLLEGE AND WHAT DID YOU STUDY?

“My name is Cathal Quigg. I am 24 years old and I’m from Glasgow, Scotland. I studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde.”

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO APPLY TO MERCURY’S GRADUATE PROGRAMME?

“When researching Mercury, I was initially drawn to the graduate programme as it offered the opportunity to work on large scale projects internationally. From the minute I started, it became clear that Mercury provides the tools and opportunities to develop and advance your career.”

WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE AND WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

“I am currently working as an Electrical Engineer, and I am based on a data centre project in Madrid, Spain. For the majority of the graduate programme, I was based in Frankfurt, and got the opportunity to work on two different projects, before transferring to here in January 2022.“

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?

“I enjoy working through the different stages of a project. It is great to see a project go from design, to construction, to commissioning, to handover. Also, I really enjoy working with a mixture of locals and Irish team members, which creates a multinational working environment.”

ANY ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE CONSIDERING APPLYING TO MERCURY’S GRADUATE PROGRAMME FOR 2022

Our structured training & graduate programme takes 18 months. The development programme is designed to set the demands of the working world as would be experienced by graduates. The courses are delivered by external and internal subject-matter experts in a dedicated learning environment. We support graduates who wish to pursue chartered status in their respective fields and professions. Each graduate is assigned a sponsor from our Executive Management Team for the duration of the graduate programme.
