Mercury is delighted to welcome a 58-person cohort to our Graduate Programme 2021, which commenced with a dedicated week of training this September.

This marks Mercury’s largest ever intake of new graduates who were welcomed by CEO, Eoin Vaughan and a number of other key speakers, including:
  • Joanne Cluxton, Group HR Manager;
  • Bronagh Matthews, HR Learning & Development Specialist and Mercury’s Graduate Programme Coordinator;
  • Alan Gorman, Managing Director of Mercury’s Data Centres & Building Services business unit;
  • David Byrne, Director of Pre-Construction Activities (including Sales & Marketing, Communications, Estimation & Bid Management);
  • Robert O’Dowd, Environmental, Health & Safety Manager;
  • Ronnie Christie, Business Unit Manager, Enterprise Data Centres; and
  • John Crawford, Business Unit Manager, Data Centres & Building Services.

Eoin Vaughan spoke about how Mercury’s graduate programme is helping to shape Mercury’s future leaders and how the majority of Mercury’s current leadership have spent their careers with the company since a young age, demonstrating the career opportunities available, stating:

“I want to take an opportunity to extend a warm welcome to our 58 talented new young graduates who recently joined Mercury. When we first launched the programme almost 12 years ago, we had an uptake of only 5 graduates. Since then, we have had approximately 240 graduates complete the programme, many of which have made long lasting careers with Mercury in key engineering and leadership positions within Mercury’s management structure. The success and evolvement of this programme and its participants reflects the ability of the business in creating leaders who envision the future of Mercury. Their progress is our responsibility. I am immensely proud of this programme which will only continue to grow alongside our business in the future.“

The graduates’ first week of training involved a series of highly engaging learning moments which incorporated several foundational aspects, including interactive and online simulation exercises, aimed at helping our graduates to succeed throughout their careers with Mercury.

„Our Graduate Programme 2021 group is more diverse than ever and consists of ten different nationalities, while over one-third of this year’s intake are women. Diversity & Inclusion forms a key part of our Responsible Business programme and forms a key factor behind our winning culture. We look forward to guiding them along their professional learning journeys over the next 18 months,“ said Bronagh Matthews, Learning & Development Specialist and the coordinator of the Graduate Programme at Mercury.
