Mercury’s Beyond 5K challenge has reached its target of Mercury’s staff and subcontractors collectively walking, running and cycling over 5,000km over a 7-week period. At the beginning of May, Mercury set a goal of running a combined distance of 5,000km and donating to various charities, as although staff are working apart during the pandemic, we can still achieve incredible things together.

As part of this initiative, Mercury has raised thousands of euro for various charities around Europe, and with the help of our pets, families and colleagues, have covered a total distance of 5,116km.

Mercury’s team members donated €2,500 to a range of over 60 different charities, with Mercury contributing an additional €5,000, which will be divided between Our Lady’s Hospice and The Brain Tumour Charity, two charities selected by random draw from the list of charities you all chose to support.

„It has been fantastic to see hundreds of our staff from across numerous project sites and locations coming together to conquer this challenge“, said a spokesperson for Mercury.

„To put our achievement into perspective, the distance between Mercury’s head office in Dublin and our furthest project sites in Lulea, Sweden is almost 3,500km. We may all be miles apart, but we’re all in similar situations as we adapt to the ’new normal'“.
