Scope of Role:

  • Delivering Training to Planners
  • Delivering Training to Project Teams, Package Managers etc.
  • Creating specific development plans and syllabi for Planners
  • Creating specific development plans and syllabi for Project Team Members
  • Support following training
  • Working with Training & Development Dept to deliver training to all new starts
  • Role requires deep knowledge of Mercury’s processes and systems and is not suitable for an outside candidate

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Reports to Director of Planning
  • Member of the Planning Department Management Team
  • Responsible for delivering training and coaching to Planners & Planning Managers
  • Responsible for delivering training to Project Team Members
  • Travelling to projects, as required, to carry out the above duties
  • Responsible for developing training programmes for the above in line with company procedures
  • Responsible for developing quantitative assessment criteria to determine knowledge and development level of planners and project team members
  • Assisting in the hiring process for Planners, assessing level of development against our criteria
  • Promoting Schedule Literacy across the business
  • Working with Training & Development Department to ensure that training aligns with corporate objectives
  • Advising on and developing best practice for the company
  • Improving and advancing Planning within the company
  • Assisting with Planning Department innovation initiatives
  • Developing and updating training materials and documentation
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes
  • Providing feedback and development plans for Planners and Project Team Members
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions, both in person and virtually
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices in planning and scheduling
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Planning Department
  • Collaborating with other departments to identify training needs and gaps
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during training activities
  • Preparing regular reports on training progress and outcomes
  • Mentoring junior members of the Planning Team
  • Where necessary, occasionally assisting the business in standard Planning Management duties
  • All other duties associated with the role

 

Core Competencies

  • Planning Knowledge
  • Track record of training & developing Planners, Planning Managers
  • Track record of delivering training to Project Teams

 

Essential Criteria

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum 15 years’ experience in Planning
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years’ experience in Planning Management Role.
  • Deep knowledge of Mercury’s procedures
  • Travel will be required for this position
