Scope of Role:

Mercury’s SAP Applications Support Team sits within Group IT and includes several analysts with various disciplines including FICO, MM, SD, HR and Payroll.  Reporting to the SAP Applications Manager, the SAP Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the workload of several SAP analysts, ensuring all requests and workload associated with supporting SAP applications for our business is delivered to high standards, within agreed timeframes and meeting business expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Oversee the workload of all SAP analysts, providing guidance on task challenges and advising on functional best practice
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business requirements, supporting the analysts translate these into SAP technical responses 
  • Ensure all business requests are assigned to the appropriate analyst
  • Conduct, at a minimum, weekly reviews of team workload to ensure adequate progress on activities
  • Point of escalation for team members and business
  • Coordinate CAB meetings with responsibility for approvals of transports
  • Enforce team processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with same
  • Oversee and ensure completion of system upgrades
  • Contribute to testing and validate during release cycles for ECC6
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and process/procedural improvement
  • Responsible for team performance management including defining individual annual performance goals, support analysts on their individual continuous development, conducting regular 1:1 engagement on performance, and addressing underperformance
  • Manage team planned and unplanned leave requests, ensuring adequate resourcing to deliver on business needs
  • Proactively identify opportunities to upskills in S4 HANA knowledge for self and team, sharing insights with relevant business users as appropriate
  • Hands-on management of SI, ensuring appropriate utilisation of support hours and coordinate monthly performance reviews
  • Support SAP Applications Manager in contract renewals of SI’s and SAP licencing agreements
  • Support the completion of team workload during times of heightened volumes and/or unexpected leaves of absences

 

Essential Criteria of the Role:

  • 6-7 years’ experience as an SAP analyst
  • Strong functional knowledge across ECC6 modules
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring delivery timelines are not compromised
  • Excellent collaboration skills with ability to engage with stakeholders of all disciplines and seniority
  • Ability to effectively address escalations and conflict
  • Strong problem-solving and analytics skills

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous people management is deemed an advantage, but not essential
  • Experience or exposure of S4 HANA a distinct advantage
  • Exposure or knowledge of SAP Cloud Analytics
  • Understand of project management
