Scope of the Role:

Reporting to the BU Management and Operations Manager this person will be a self-starter working on their own initiative. They will be responsible for the management and co-ordination all aspects of Quality Assurance and Control for the whole Business Unit. Leading and managing the Quality Team and, where necessary, interfacing with the Client Team. This person will set clear direction and expectations for the set up of projects and the correct implementation of Mercury procedures and processes. The core Business Unit Management team, of which you are a key part, will assist you to create the vision; provide leadership; set targets; create processes and procedures; manage the Quality and ensure adherence to all requirements across all projects.

 

 

Responsibilities of the Role:

· Weekly Meetings

o Schedule and chair meeting with your team.

o Follow up and ensure a timely close out of any outstanding items.

o Attend and actively contribute to QA meetings as required

 

Weekly Audits

o Implement Mercury Project audit plan

o Review weekly Project audits and address open items with your team

o Discuss findings and trends with your Project Managers, your team and the BU Leads

o Ensure Audit findings are clearly communicated to all stakeholders

o Drive closure of all open Audit findings

 

 EHS Alerts

o Ensure that all EHS alerts are communicated effectively

o Engage in the campaigns being run to reflect the alerts – TBT, Stand-down, Demonstration

o Ensure Workforce participation

 

 Mercury Procedures

o Ensure Mercury Procedures are in place and being adhered to on all projects.

o Ensure your team have fully reviewed and understand the Project specifications and documentation.

o Ensure Sub-Contractors are engaged and using our Quality Management systems.

o Implement a League table for Sub-contractors on each project.

o Review quality of output and foster continuous improvement.

o Periodic attendance at planned meetings.

 

Client Meetings

o Attend client meetings as required.

o Push strong Quality approach with Client.

o Identify improvement opportunities

o Share Mercury reports highlighting positives and negatives

o Identify and communicate where Client approach needs change

 

Training

o Make training available to your team and your Sub-contractors.

o Set standards for training requirements for Mercury and Sub-Contractor staff

· Project Weekly Report

o Review weekly Progress update with the project planner and implement strategies to ensure project remains on track. Ensure your team contribute.

 

 Weekly Planner

o Use the project lookaheads to drive quality on the projects.

o Co-ordinate with the various Project teams to ensure the dates can be achieved.

o Sub-contractor Meetings per project

o Quality walks

o Audits

o Client Interface

 

Project Team Management

o Guide and assist the project teams.

o Align your expectations with Project requirements.

o Ensure your expectations are clearly understood

o Set clear expectations and track against the KPIs

 

General

· Working across Multiple Jurisdictions

· Understand strategy and pipeline for future projects.

· Manage the tender process from an QA operations function.

· Ensuring that communication between head office departments and the site is utilised to maintain an environment of continuous improvement.

· Identifying any skills gaps in the Business Units and interviewing and supporting in recruitment

· Training of staff and managers to ensure that everyone is performing adequately in their role.

· Providing a leadership support function to teams and motivating staff to achieve production goals.

· Acting as a liaison to senior management to keep them up to date on all projects.

· Ensuring key performance indicators are in place and targets are being met.

· Implementation of any new policies and procedures.

· To manage the overall operations of the project, and ensure that the Safety, Quality, and Environmental objectives of the client and the project team are established and progress toward these is measured.

· Monitor and advise on the administration of the Client/Mercury Contract and on the Mercury Sub-contractor contracts.

· Ensure that the management systems are implemented at all stages throughout the construction process, particularly with respect to Sub-contractor management.

· Reviewing, in conjunction BU Leads and Project Managers, the effectiveness of the management systems as a means of achieving quality objectives.

· To initiate staff training where required.

· In conjunction with the BU Leads and Project Managers Ensure that staff are working efficiently and effectively.

· Ensure project reporting is clear and concise and reflects current project status.

· Ensure that QA requirements and packages and scope of works are reviewed prior to subcontracts being agreed.

· Ensure that client relations are always maintained.

· Ensure a safe working environment for all of the people under your management and deliver an incident and injury free project.

· Role model all aspects of working in a safe manner and ensure that all of your leadership team do the same.

· Demonstrate understanding and creativity by leading the quality team to develop approaches and solutions to enhance QA coverage and enhance QA impact to the project.

· You will set up and implement all necessary procedures, controls & systems on site.

· Manage and publish all quality indicators on a weekly basis.

· Effectively communicate project QA indicators to all levels of management and project stakeholders, providing insights into recommended areas for improvements to prevent recurring issues.

· Standardize QA reporting & metrics, ensuring that we are focused on the right measures.

· Gather and analyze feedback to provide recommendations for quality improvements.

· Ensure all quality systems are online in an easily accessible location and that everyone that needs to use them knows where to find them.

· Set up ITPs, test packs, checklists as per project requirements.

· Work with QA and Project Managers to ensure that systems can be tested and handed over ahead of the published schedule needs.

· Performance management of your team members.

· Keep a rolling 8 week look ahead of constraints and constraints clearing.

· All other duties associated with this role.

 

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria:

· Engineering Degree or recognised trade qualification

· 7+ years’ experience of managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.

· Thorough knowledge of Quality Control Procedures

· Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.

· Ability to efficiently manage a team by setting expectations, delegation and review.

· Strong communication & computer skills,

· Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communications skills.
