Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Install, terminate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 copper cabling
- Install, terminate and patch fibre optic cabling
- Capable of testing copper cabling installation
- Capable of testing fibre cabling installation
- Troubleshoot cabling faults
- Produce test results and handover documentation
- Understand cabling drawings and schematics
- Rack and stack IT and telecoms equipment
- Patch and manage network connections
- Support network upgrades and migrations
- Install containment systems (cable tray / trunking)
- Read and understand project specifications
- Label and document installation to project specifications
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports
- Follow Health and Safety procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly with Project Manager / Project supervisor and other trades on site
- Support commissioning teams and project handover
- Problem solving under pressure
- All other duties associated with the role
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with testing fibre using ODTR / OLTS equipment
- Experience reading detailed construction drawings / rack elevations / schematics / cable schedules
- Previous experience leading a small team
- MEWP working at height / manual handling certification
- Basic computer skills ( MS Office Suite / Windows / MS Project)
