Introduction:
The goal for the Mercury Group Commissioning Function is to improve our project level performance and improving predictability on key project milestones such as IST (Integrated Systems Test) and RFS. This improvement in performance shall be achieved through Consistency and standardisation of the processes developed and executed at project level.
The role of Group Low Voltage Electrical Instructor shall be part of the Group Commissioning Support Function and demands a technical and personable approach to deliver successfully.
The Group Low Voltage Electrical Instructor shall be required to work with other group support functions [Safety, Quality, Planning, Data & Analytics. Digital Transformation, Operations etc] to ensure that the deliverables associated with this role are planned, executed, monitored, and controlled to the highest standard.
Travel to mainland Europe may be required to enhance training development and awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
Mercury Low Voltage Safe Principles Courses:
- Responsible for maintaining the Mercury AP training course material and the physical infrastructure at the Mercury Training and Development Centre Ballycoolin. Any updates or omissions must firstly be agreed to by Mercury Group Commissioning Support Manager.
- Responsible for managing and maintaining the Low Voltage Electrical Safe Principles Course and Low Voltage Electrical Safe Principles Course for Leaders at the Mercury Ballycoolin Training Centre.
- Responsible for evaluation of candidates completing the courses.
- Full oversight and management responsibility of the initiative including Safety, Quality, Administration, Planning, coordination. The Group Low Voltage Electrical Instructor will work directly with the BU Operations leads and each Business Unit Head of Commissioning to ensure that the roster for training attendance on the courses at Ballycoolin is practical and considers current project responsibilities.
- The Training Facility should be used to as close to capacity as reasonably possible. The number of training courses ran per month shall be agreed with the Group Commissioning Support Manager. Care and attention are needed in planning to ensure that a “Balanced” approach is taken to the intake of Business Unit APs to the course. It is preferred that we have a good cross section of the Business Units on the course. Priority to be applied and agreed with line manager.
- Responsible for preparing course material and making available to candidates upon attendance.
- Responsible for ordering and managing catering for attendees.
- Responsible for the management and communication of feedback from the course to Business Unit Operations to ensure that the individual is supported and provided with constructive feedback that is designed to improve performance in the role of an Authorised Person. This feedback is crucial to each of the AP’s CPM.
- Responsible for co-ordination and sharing of documentation with EHS Training for candidate’s certification. Responsible for updating excel tracker to maintain Power BI report associated with training.
- Responsible for reporting weekly and monthly in terms of training and competence progress, help needed per business Unit etc. Reporting format to be established with line manager.
- Responsible for supporting the accreditation process with City & Guilds for the training courses.
- Develop, maintain and present specific electrical awareness presentations on Mercury projects if required
Project Visits
- To support, audit and verify that our project SAP’s, AP’s, and Energy Marshall’s are compliant to Group expectation as set out within the Operational LV and MV SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) as well as the associated Audit and Inspections SOP’s and company guidelines.
- To support successful candidates who have completed the Low Voltage Electrical Safe Principles course and are gaining relevant experience on a live project prior to appointment.
- All project Audits to be completed in CxDE (CX Digital Environment)
Miscellaneous Duties
- Work with the Digital Transformation Lead to train on and understand the CxDE system as a "Super User". The Mercury Commissioning Digital Environment will play a key role in improvement the COHE/LOTO processes and procedures.
- Responsible for the development of a Group level safety standard for COHE on all projects relating to signage and pre-requisites to introducing Permanent Power onto a project site.
Meetings and Reporting
- Weekly and Monthly reporting on progress related to the following shall be agreed with line Manager; KPI to be agreed:
- Mercury Training Course delivery and maintenance.
- Mercury Training Course planning, attendance, and outcomes.
- Opportunities for further development and updates to training content.
Travel
- Travel will be coordinated around the training course roadmap and will only be required for specific instances of auditing or presenting.
- All travel to be planned and agreed with line manager.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Certification / accreditation as an Authorised Person.
- Relevant qualification in training such as QQI award or equivalent having successfully completed a “Train the Trainer” course.
- Must be a qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer.
- Proven experience [>10 Years] in a Senior Authorised Persons Role managing/ operating HV/ MV and LV networks.
- Experience in Medium and Low Voltage operations in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of Electrical Safety Standards and Code of Practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Training and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Project management skills are essential.
- Relevant qualification in low voltage testing and verification with proven experience [>10 Years].
- Data Centre, Oil & Gas and Pharmaceutical construction experience preferred.
- Competent in Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Excel and BIM360/ ACC.
