Scope of the Role:

The Construction Manager owns the project execution for the fire protection systems.  You will report to the Operations/Contracts Manager, and in conjunction with that person you will set specific goals for your elements of the project that align with the overall project objectives.  Your role is primarily to ensure that the project is built in accordance with the scope; schedule and budget as set out in the overall project programme.  While the package lead is the project manager for a given scope, your job the “on the ground management” of the trades.  Given the size and complexity of our project’s collaboration across all of the disciplines is key to our success, and as such you will not only need to take direction from the package, but you will need to interact with all other packages in developing and implementing the construction plans.  You will be one that directly manages the trades personnel; ensures that all works are carried out in the most efficient manner, and the highest possible quality standards.  In this position you are required to deliver the scope of work as described in the design documents/specification, within the allotted budget and ahead of schedule.  You will also fulfil the role of coach/mentor to more junior personnel in your team.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

• Ensure a safe working environment for all of the people under your management.
• Establish the detailed scope for this project.
• Be exceptionally diligent in managing project changes. 
• Ensure that a verifiable and verified paper trail exists for all changes.
• You are the Mercury manager for all scope associated with the fire protection on this project.
• Ensure that all work is planned and executed in strict alignment to the programme schedule; with the right people in the right place, at the right time.
• Work with the design team to ensure that all materials; designs and equipment are available ahead of the need.
• You will be the primary driver of the Weekly and daily work plans.
• Ensure that all personnel understand what “change” looks like and you will ensure that all changes are costed and approved before work commences.
• Work with the planning department to develop a schedule to meet the client’s schedule needs, and to deliver all milestones ahead of schedule.
• Understand in detail the scope to be delivered in your discipline and have a thorough understanding of the design.
• Work with Client, Main Contractor and Design department to clarify design deliverables and ensure design schedules are met. 
• The Fire Protection Team will build and monitor the schedule with you, it is you that owns the execution of the works to meet that schedule.  You and/or your team will work with the planners to develop a “Last Planner” level of detail schedule.
• Ensure that all team members under your control:
  • Manage and Control Internal and External Reporting of Projects.
  • Manager updating of progress reporting.
  • Ensure > 0.99% right first time on all works.
  • Ensure that every member of your team has the required training to enable them to deliver the project requirements.
  • Ensure that all personnel are committed to the IFW philosophy on site.

 

 

Essential Criteria for the Role:

• A trade background with 5-10 years previous experience in supervising large installation crews and sub-contractors.
• Proven record of supervising and managing large installation projects
• Knowledge of Health & Safety
• Experienced in design and build
• Good technical knowledge of electrical systems
• Excellent IT skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work well within strict deadlines
• Ability to drive a large-scale project

 

 

Desirable Skills:

• Experience or Understanding of Fire Protection

Rollenbeschreibung

Der Construction Manager ist verantwortlich für die Projektausführung der Brandschutzsysteme. Sie berichten an den Operations/Contracts Manager und legen gemeinsam mit ihm konkrete Ziele für Ihren Projektbereich fest, die mit den übergeordneten Projektzielen übereinstimmen.Ihre Hauptaufgabe besteht darin sicherzustellen, dass das Projekt gemäß Leistungsumfang, Zeitplan und Budget ausgeführt wird. Während der Package Lead als Projektmanager für einen bestimmten Leistungsumfang fungiert, übernehmen Sie das operative Management der Gewerke vor Ort.Aufgrund der Größe und Komplexität unserer Projekte ist die Zusammenarbeit zwischen allen Disziplinen entscheidend. Daher müssen Sie nicht nur Anweisungen vom Package Lead umsetzen, sondern auch eng mit allen anderen Gewerken zusammenarbeiten, um Bauabläufe zu entwickeln und umzusetzen.Sie führen die Gewerke direkt, stellen sicher, dass alle Arbeiten effizient und in höchster Qualität ausgeführt werden, und liefern den Leistungsumfang gemäß den Designunterlagen innerhalb des Budgets und vor dem geplanten Termin. Zudem übernehmen Sie eine Coaching- und Mentorenrolle für jüngere Teammitglieder.

• Verantwortung für den gesamten Brandschutz-Leistungsumfang des Projekts.
• Planung und Ausführung aller Arbeiten strikt gemäß Projektzeitplan – mit den richtigen Personen, am richtigen Ort, zur richtigen Zeit.
• Zusammenarbeit mit dem Designteam, um sicherzustellen, dass Materialien, Designs und Ausrüstung rechtzeitig verfügbar sind.
• Hauptverantwortung für die wöchentlichen und täglichen Arbeitspläne.
• Sicherstellen, dass alle Mitarbeitenden erkennen, was eine „Änderung“ darstellt, und dass alle Änderungen vor Ausführung kalkuliert und genehmigt werden.
• Zusammenarbeit mit der Planungsabteilung zur Entwicklung eines Zeitplans, der die Anforderungen des Kunden erfüllt und alle Meilensteine vorzeitig erreicht.
• Tiefgehendes Verständnis des Leistungsumfangs und der technischen Planung.
•  Zusammenarbeit mit dem Kunden, dem Generalunternehmer und dem Designteam zur Klärung von Designanforderungen und Sicherstellung der Einhaltung von Designzeitplänen.
• Aufbau und Überwachung des Zeitplans gemeinsam mit dem Fire Protection Team; Verantwortung für die termingerechte Ausführung liegt bei Ihnen.Entwicklung eines detaillierten „Last Planner“-Zeitplans mit dem Planungsteam.

Erforderliche Qualifikationen

• Handwerklicher Hintergrund mit 5–10 Jahren Erfahrung in der Leitung großer Montageteams und Subunternehmer.
• Nachweisliche Erfahrung in der Leitung großer Installationsprojekte.
• Kenntnisse im Bereich Arbeitssicherheit.
• Erfahrung in Design & Build-Projekten.
• Gute technische Kenntnisse von elektrischen Systemen.
• Hervorragende IT-Kenntnisse.
• Ausgezeichnete Kommunikationsfähigkeiten.
• Fähigkeit, unter strengen Terminvorgaben zu arbeiten.
• Fähigkeit, groß angelegte Projekte zu steuern.

 

 

Wünschenswerte Fähigkeiten

• Erfahrung oder Verständnis im Bereich Brandschutz.
