Scope of the Role:

The right candidate will support our journey to streamline financial and operational processes, including implementation of new systems & processes to accommodate rapid growth and have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

You must be a driven, high energy, customer service focused individual that can work well with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, a critical thinker who can drive projects and make an impact. You have exceptional collaboration and communication skills and a desire to help drive business goals in a matrix organization. You are a process improver that can easily pick up the high-level business goals and apply them to the finance and accounting operations.

 

 Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Reporting to the GL Leads
  • General Ledger team member duties
    • Month-end & Year-end closure of accounts
    • Ensure data entered and postings made are on-time and accurate across all key areas such as revenue, costs, FX, prepayments, accruals, and all areas covering the P&L and Balance Sheet
    • Detailed review before, during and after each step is completed to ensure the highest level of quality.
    • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and that all control steps are completed.
  • Supporting elements of the year-end audit both at group and local levels as well as internal audit queries
  • Support the Identification and delivery of solutions that will enhance and automate existing processes. Challenge the current approach, offer views on improvement, support implementation of those improvements.
  • Support the on-going work to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Create strong business partnerships within your own team and across all teams in the business. Be a team player, success in this role is based on working with others throughout the business.
  • Key callout, Mercury is on a journey to strengthen its financial reporting processes, controls, and team structure, this is a key focus.

 

 Essential Criteria for the Role:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with a minimum 3 years’ experience in multinational environment.
  • Experience in using SAP and managing month-end & other core General Ledger related activities is essential.
  • Relevant industry PQE with large, fast-growing, multi-national company.
  • Very organised and thorough with desire for continuous improvement, attention to detail
  • Strong foundation in Financial Accounting compliance with experience of initiating and driving projects to completion.
  • Proven ability to multitask, with ability to design plans and deliver against them.
  • Strong IT and analytical skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Suite with strong skills in Excel (SAP BW and PowerBi experience would also be useful)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with a drive to deliver high quality work, on-time while adding value.
