Scope of the Role:
To ensure that all Mercury procurement duties are carried out to the highest standards, on time and with the highest financial gain to Mercury Engineering. To guide the Mercury supply-chain from being an administrative department to be a strategic partner of choice within the business, bringing more consistency and vendor relationship management to Mercury.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead and manage a team of Procurement personnel across various disciplines and geographical areas (Ireland, Mainland Europe or as required)
- Assign, train, monitor, check and coordinate the work of the procurement team
- Apply a broad understanding of financial management principals and other quantitative information to ensure decisions are fiscally responsible and based on your procurement budget.
- Implement and lead the Supplier Performance Management tool as assigned by Divisional Procurement Managers .
- Implement Procurement strategy with all key supply chain members (Agreements & Rebates).
- Lead internal and external meetings
- Leverage existing report suite to ensure timely and accurate reporting to both Operations and Function.
- Lead the sustainability initiative across the Division as assigned by Divisional Procurement Managers.
- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of ERP based procurement and material Management.
- Ensure the procurement schedule is presented to and agreed with Senior stakeholders within one week of project award.
- Ensure procurement schedule is fully populated and updated weekly in accordance with the Project Schedule.
- Manage all parties responsible for the deliverables up to package award including, SOW’s, Responsibility matrix, attendances, design, contractual and commercial deliverables so that there is no delay in the procurement process as set out in the schedule.
- Update risk registers as required.
- Attend mid bid tender meetings as required.
- Participate in preparation and presentation of package award reports to Senior Management in a timely manner.
- Attend factory visits or reference projects as required during the procurement process.
- Chair and minute weekly procurement meetings.
- Issue weekly procurement reports through Power BI internally and externally as required.
- Focus on broadening the database of supply chain partners, securing a more diverse selection of partners across packages and geographies.
- Develop and implement Project Execution Plans as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by line manager.
Essential Criteria for the Role:
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in a similar role.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Experience in category management.
Desirable Criteria:
• A third level qualification, preferably in supply chain or other related discipline
