Mercury’s Cathy Kane and Joanne Bradley recently spoke at TU Dublin’s Women Building the Future lunch and workshop.

The event provided female apprentices with an opportunity to network with their peers and to meet with women who are qualified in their respective fields.

Cathy Kane, EHS Lead, Life Sciences & Technology and Joanne Bradley, Quantity Surveyor, Hyperscale Data Centres, shared with budding apprentices, their experiences of starting out in the construction industry, before establishing themselves in senior roles within the sector.

Aspiring female students currently participating in the Access to Apprenticeship were provided with an engaging workshop on building professional relationships and networks and also heard from TU Dublin President, Professor David Fitzpatrick.

Cathy Kane was previously profiled in Mercury’s Women in Construction series.

She spoke about her career to date, having spent over 22 years working in the construction industry.

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION

We support women in construction. While women currently make up only 5.5% of the construction workforce, Mercury is leading the way in making strides to both attract a high quality and diverse team and help to make the construction industry more female friendly.

As part of this, we’ve previously hosted “Women in Construction Week” across Mercury.

The focus of the initiative is to highlight women as a valuable component of the construction industry. Led by our HR department, we use the occasion to raise awareness of the opportunities available to women in the construction industry and to emphasise and encourage the growing role of women in our industry.

We recognise the achievements of women in our company and hope that they will inspire others to follow in their footsteps and encourage other female employees across our organisation.

We’re hugely proud of the contributions made by women within Mercury. Click below to find out more.
