Home Safe for Christmas: Mercury Launches ‘Countdown to a Safe Christmas’ Campaign

Today marks the start of Mercury’s annual Countdown to a Safe Christmas safety campaign, which takes place across our projects throughout Europe in the lead up to the holidays. As activity levels rise and the year draws to a close, the campaign reinforces our shared commitment to Work Safe, Home Safe and reminds every one of the goal that matters most: getting home safe for Christmas. 
 
Safety is our anchor value. It underpins everything we do and is the bedrock of our delivery, training, and performance. The Countdown to Christmas campaign strengthens this focus at a time when attention can drift, encouraging everyone to take care, look out for one another, and maintain the same high standards that define our work year-round. 
 
Since it began, the campaign has promoted the highest levels of health, safety, and wellbeing across all Mercury sites. Each day highlights a key theme, including physical safety, mental health, road awareness, and home safety. Activities include toolbox talks, safety demonstrations, and practical discussions designed to keep safety front of mind both on and off site. 
 
Speaking about this year’s campaign, Louis Kroucamp Head of Health and Safety, said: 

Safety is the one consistent value that connects every person at Mercury, regardless of role or location. The Countdown to Christmas campaign reinforces that connection. It reminds us to finish the year safely, keep our our duty of care at the forefront, and make sure everyone returns home safe for Christmas

At Mercury, safety is more than a policy. It is a shared duty and a reflection of who we are. As the year concludes, the Countdown to Christmas campaign brings our focus back to that duty, ensuring every individual, team, and partner remains Work Safe, Home Safe through the festive season and beyond.
