This new development will transform Tate Modern. A new building will be added at the south of the existing gallery. It will create more spaces for displaying the collection, performance and installation art and learning, all allowing visitors to engage more deeply with art, as well as creating more social spaces for visitors to unwind and relax in the gallery. Mercury are undertaking the Mechanical works on this truly iconic building. Mercury placed great emphasis on off-site pre-fabrication including multi-service modules for the main services distribution routes and skidding/modularisation of pumps and other plant items to safeguard quality and reduce on site labour hours. The project included environmentally sound designs including bore hole cooling and utilising waste heat from the main generators.
