Mercury has secured the contract for the design, supply and delivery of an automatic sprinkler system for a new aircraft hangar in Shannon. The sprinkler systems will be installed at the roof level and will include a foam/water system in the paint shop area.

Manual foam cannons will also be located at low level for under wing protection. The overall system will include two 18m high water storage tanks with fire pumps to feed the new systems. Completion of the project is scheduled for November 2019.

The proposed building will house a combination of aircraft types including an A380 style airplane. The building has an internal area of 8,400m² and the roof, at its highest point, is 35m, to accommodate the tail of an A380 airplane.

The overall system will include two 18m high water storage tanks with fire pumps to feed the new systems.
