EURO 50 explained

EURO 50 is a five-aside football tournament, that reflects Mercury's presence across Europe.

16 teams from 11 countries will come together as we celebrate our 50th year in business. Squads are made up of eight players, and a manager.

Each squad must feature at least one female, one male & one player aged over 40. Alongside the football, there will be a number of off-field activities to keep players, spectators and volunteers entertained throughout.

The final tournament will take place on August 13th 2022 in Frankfurt, Germany. EURO 50 is one of many initiatives we are hosting to celebrate Mercury's 50th year in business.

Regional Qualifiers

Many of our regions hosted qualifying events to select their representative team.

Two qualifying tournaments, with a combined total of 30+ teams recently took place in Dublin and Kildare.

Over 150 Mercury people from Head Office, Hyperscale and Live Environment divisions, were in attendance at Astro Park Tallaght on the 23rd June, where NCH FC & Boca Seniors (CLN) sealed qualification at EURO 50.

One the same day, our Advanced Technology Division held their qualifiers in Celbridge, Co Kildare. Ragball Rovers and Mulveys Mercurians were the final pairing with both sides advancing to Frankfurt on August 13th.

In France a total of four teams from the PAR8/9 and PA13 projects battled it out for a spot at the finals.

Employees from our CDI and DCBS divisions both took part in a brilliant tournament, with on of the PAR8/9 teams securing their berth at EURO 50.

Congratulations to all involved in organising and playing, and also to Valeria Munoz Garcia who took home the Player of the Tournament Award.
