International Suicide Prevention Day 2022<\/strong> takes place tomorrow, Saturday 10th September.<\/p>\n

At Mercury, we understand the importance of marking this initiative, particularly within our industry, and we are supporting a number of scheduled events across our European projects and locations.<\/p>\n

Over the past week, we have distributed 7,500 key rings which display our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) details to our people and supply-chain members, across our 16+ regions.<\/p>\n

Our EAP is available to all Mercury staff, supply-chain members, and their direct family members. This forms part of our wellbeing strategy, which includes several initiatives, including our Mental Health First Aid Training Programme, and our Be Brave: Break the Stigma campaign, which promotes the removal of stigmas around mental health issues.<\/p>\n

Across our business today, our people are engaging in coffee mornings, suicide awareness Toolbox Talks, charity bake sales and are also taking suicide survival courses where key-note speakers were invited.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme focuses on \u2018Creating Hope Through Actions<\/strong>\u2019 which serves as a reminder that there is an alternative to suicide and aims to inspire confidence, hope and light in all of us. This promotes the message that our actions, no matter how big, or small, may provide hope to those who are struggling.<\/p>\n

Throughout October we are rolling out further training for our Managers and Foreman on how to conduct mental health conversations. We are ensuring that our people feel equipped and are confident enough to have these conversations with their teams in a way that breaks down barriers.<\/p>\n

We fully understand the role that we play as an industry leader in breaking the stigma around mental health and raising awareness that it\u2019s okay to not be okay.<\/p>\n

Niamh Gilmore<\/a>, Group Wellbeing Coordinator said: \u201cTaking a minute to reach out and to have a conversation can save a life. It\u2019s inspiring to see our teams taking care of each other and offering support to all personnel, including our supply chain partners on our project sites across Europe.\u00a0The physical and mental wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance. By cultivating a positive and engaging environment that supports and nurtures, we believe that we create a space where our people can flourish.\u201d<\/p>\n
