The latest episode of our Visa Interview series<\/a> focuses on Kundan Dandangi.<\/p>\n

Kundan, who is originally from Hyderabad, Telangana in India, joined Mercury as a Quality Assurance Engineer on our Graduate Programme in July 2020.<\/p>\n

After completing our Graduate Programme last year, Kundan was offered a position as a QA Turnover Engineer on a complex Advanced Technology project in Co. Kildare Ireland. Kundan was supported by Mercury’s visa application programme, and is now a key member of a diverse team on this mega project.<\/p>\n

Can you tell us a bit about your background?<\/h3>\n

\u201cI am originally from Telangana in India. My background is primarily in mechanical engineering, and I have been working with Mercury for almost two and a half years. I received a BTech in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology Raipur, in 2019. Following this, I moved to Ireland where I completed a MEng in Mechanical Engineering at University of Galway in 2020. After completing Mercury’s Graduate Programme, I spent some time working as a Junior Mechanical QA. I am now working as a QA Turnover Engineer on a semi-conductor project in Co. Kildare, Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n

How did you first hear about Mercury?<\/h3>\n

\u201cI first learned about Mercury at a careers fair organised by the University of Galway. After speaking to a member of the recruitment team, I was immediately attracted by the company\u2019s excellent reputation for supporting career growth and the development of its people. This made me really eager to apply for the Graduate Programme.“<\/p>\n

What is the biggest challenge when completing complex projects?<\/h3>\n

\u201cI joined the company as a Gradate QA Engineer (Mechanical) in 2020, on a very large semi-conductor project. For me the Covid-19 pandemic was a challenging period as there were a number of new safety precautions and safe work practices that needed to be implemented on site. Over the span of my first twelve months with Mercury, I gained immense knowledge working on the construction of this complex project.\u201d<\/p>\n

„In conjunction to this, I got great experience working alongside industry-leading personnel who were very forthcoming in sharing their expertise with me. Throughout this period, I learned about high purity materials, and received first hand experience in ensuring that project\u00a0milestone handovers were in line with client expectations. This involves a lot of work in liaising between construction and engineering personnel and reporting back to clients in a timely manner. The biggest challenge is understanding client expectations and ensuring that key deliverables are handed over as per industry standards.\u201d<\/p>\n

What was your experience in obtaining a visa or work permit with Mercury?<\/h3>\n

\u201cGetting a work permit and visa with Mercury to live and work in Ireland, was a very painless affair.\u00a0 The company has a lot of experience in organising visas for international employees throughout Europe. Our in-house mobility co-ordinator, along with the support of a third-party visa handling company made the entire process stress free.\u201d<\/p>\n

Would you recommend working abroad with Mercury in Ireland\/Europe?<\/h3>\n

\u201cI would absolutely recommend people to work for Mercury in Ireland, or Europe. The first-class industry experience that you receive is priceless. You are treated very well and there are high levels of respect between colleagues.“<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What is your favourite thing about working in Ireland?<\/h3>\n

\u201cMy favourite thing about working in Ireland is the flexibility and friendly culture. During weekends there are great opportunities to travel and enjoy the natural beauty of the country. I also enjoy the social aspects of experiencing new cultures while visiting different bars, towns and cities!“<\/p>\n

How does working and living in Europe compare to India?<\/h3>\n

\u201cCompared to India, I believe that a high standard of living, flexibility, and peace of mind are the main advantages you get while working and living in Europe.“<\/p>\n
