{"id":8760,"date":"2022-08-05T14:20:08","date_gmt":"2022-08-05T14:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/?p=8760"},"modified":"2022-08-06T08:00:46","modified_gmt":"2022-08-06T08:00:46","slug":"celebrating-mercurys-50th-anniversary-with-euro50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/de\/2022\/08\/05\/celebrating-mercurys-50th-anniversary-with-euro50\/","title":{"rendered":"Launching EURO50: Mercury\u2019s unique 50th anniversary celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are proud to unveil EURO50, our unique event that celebrates Mercury\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> year in business.<\/p>\n<p>EURO50 is a five-a-side football tournament that brings our people together and represents our diversity and presence across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Following a number of local qualifying events which saw hundreds of our people participate, sixteen teams representing eleven countries will take to the pitch on Saturday 13<sup>th<\/sup> August in Frankfurt, Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Frankfurt was selected as host city by our tournament steering committee due to the scale of Mercury\u2019s operations in the area. With a number of active projects in Germany, this is a key region for us, where we employ over 300 direct staff members and 2,000 subcontractors.<\/p>\n<p>Two teams from the host city of Frankfurt will be joined by selections from Berlin, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Poland, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, England and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8766 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Picture2.jpg\" alt=\"Teams of EURO50\" width=\"451\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Picture2.jpg 451w, https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Picture2-350x292.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 451px) 100vw, 451px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>EURO50 maintains a similar format to traditional UEFA-styled football competitions. The groups stages consist of our teams of four, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final.<\/p>\n<p>Each team has a squad of eight players and must have at least one male, one female, and one player aged over forty.<\/p>\n<p>Two special pieces of silverware are up for grabs. In honour of our founding fathers, the winners of EURO50 will be crowned champions of the Frank O\u2019Kane Cup, while the winners of our plate competition will take home the Joe Morgan Shield.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this initiative is to bring our people together in sport, as we celebrate Mercury\u2019s incredible journey. In addition, this event will allow our employees from our various regions to network and develop relationships with colleagues from across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>EURO50 is just one of a number of initiatives we have organised to mark Mercury\u2019s 50<sup>th<\/sup> year of business.
