{"id":7298,"date":"2022-01-12T10:24:39","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T10:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/?p=7298"},"modified":"2022-10-04T08:23:24","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T08:23:24","slug":"mercury-osa-case-study-featured-in-lean-construction-ireland-book-of-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mercuryeng.com\/de\/2022\/01\/12\/mercury-osa-case-study-featured-in-lean-construction-ireland-book-of-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercury OSA case study featured in Lean Construction Ireland Book of Cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mercury recently submitted a case study focusing on Off-site Assembly (OSA) as part of Lean Construction Ireland\u2019s (LCi) annual Book of Cases for 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The latest edition of the Book of Cases launched online in December and includes insight from Jason Toomey, Business Unit Quality Assurance Manager, with Mercury\u2019s submission centering on our delivery of a large European data centre project which utilized lean approaches such as OSA.<\/p>\n<p>OSA is redefining our industry and Mercury\u2019s teams are implementing this process across all of the sectors and global regions in which we operate.<\/p>\n<p>Modular construction can be considered as a hybrid of manufacturing and construction, and in many ways lends itself to lean production, which permits significant improvements in terms of productivity, reduction in waste, schedule certainty, and improved quality. This is proven right through our range of modular offerings from cable containment modules to fully Modularised Electrical Rooms (MER\u2019s) to 85 tonne single modules of 84 inch process pipework.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of Q1 of 2021, Mercury was producing 27 module types, using 51 different suppliers, on 27 projects across Europe. By the end of Q2, Mercury was producing 34 module types \u2013 an increase of 26% from Q1 \u2013 and 27 projects were implementing OSA \u2013 an increase of 17% from Q1.<\/p>\n<p>Mercury has long been an advocate of Lean and has been implementing its principles into work practices for many years. Lean has always been something Mercury strives for.
