Our second interviewee is <strong>Fabio Iseki<\/strong>, an Brazillian Quality Assurance Manager working on a Data Centre project in Germany.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Can you tell us a bit about your background?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m from Brazil. I have a degree in Mechanical\/Metallurgy Engineering and have done specialization courses in Welding Engineering and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).<\/p>\n<p>My professional background is primarily in oil &amp; gas construction projects and maintenance and reliability processes in petrochemical plants.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been working in the QA\/QC field for 10 years in different projects, both in Brazil and abroad. I&#8217;ve also been certified as a Lead Auditor for Integrated Management Systems ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, AS\/NZS 4801:2001 and OHS 18001:2007 since 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How did you first hear about Mercury? What made you want to work here?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four colleagues that worked with me in Abu Dhabi had been working at Mercury and during conversation had told me a bit about the company. Based on these brief conversations, I realised that Mercury could be a new challenge and an opportunity to learn a different way to deal with construction. Also, it was very important to me to know that Mercury has a good work environment and respectfully treats all its employees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How was your experience getting a visa?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My process had 2 phases, the first in Brazil and the second in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>In Brazil, Mercury partnered with a local company to handle all immigration matters for me and my wife. A lot of documentation needs to be submitted in advance to guarantee the next steps of the visa process. Without the support of the team, it would have been very difficult to obtain the information they required as most of the documentation and guidance was in German.<\/p>\n<p>All the steps were explained from the beginning and communication was very clear between all parties. This support was important for me and my family to feel more comfortable as we went ahead with the process.<\/p>\n<p>When I arrived in Frankfurt, Mercury\u2019s site administration took over the next stage of the process and guided me through the next steps together with the partner company. Due to the current restrictions during this pandemic period, the appointments and the process to get the visa have changed, so some of the steps were carried out remotely. Although it took a longer time than normal to finalise the visa process, with all the support I recceived, it was very smooth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Would you recommend other people from Brazil to work with Mercury in Germany?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, I would recommend both. Frankfurt has been a really positive surprise for me and my family. It\u2019s such a lovely city. It&#8217;s very safe and the main airport has easy flights to almost all countries, if you wish to travel over weekends.
