Meet the 2025\u20132027 Graduates Working on Major Projects Across Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In Groningen, the Netherlands, Osi Oshiogwemoh is taking on construction management responsibilities on a major data centre project he first joined as an intern, while completing his studies at SETU Waterford. Graduate Quantity Surveyor Hazel Comerford started with Mercury on a project in Amsterdam before relocating to another in Zurich. Graduate Electrical Engineer Colm Gallagher is developing his career on one of our largest and most complex projects in Helsinki, Finland.<\/p>\n<p>All three are part of Mercury\u2019s 2025\u20132027 graduate cohort. More graduates than ever are starting their careers at Mercury this year, with the 2026\u20132027 intake doubled in size. As the programme welcomes its newest group of ambitious graduates, Osi, Hazel and Colm offer a look into their experiences across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Osi joined the Groningen project when it was still at the groundworks stage. He returned after college and has since seen it through construction and the handover of its first phase. Now a Graduate Construction Manager, he has been trusted with significant responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site.<\/p>\n<p>His internship experience was the reason he wanted to come back to Mercury. He enjoyed the project and the team so much that he was already thinking about his return during his final year at college. Now he has helped create a better introduction to site life for the students following him. Working with his Operations Manager, Osi developed an internship programme where Interns were paired with a dedicated Mercury buddy in their core discipline, alongside cross-disciplinary exposure to broaden their experience. The first six interns have already taken part.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>If you show initiative and demonstrate an interest in learning, Mercury is willing to support your development and give you significant responsibility.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hazel\u2019s move from Amsterdam to Zurich has given her commercial experience on two major data centre projects. In Amsterdam, she worked through procurement, subcontractor management and the closeout of final accounts at project completion. Now she manages contracts, variations and payment applications in Zurich, working closely with project teams and senior leaders.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>You get opportunities you don\u2019t always get early in your career.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Colm wanted to join the best graduate programme in the sector. His experience in Helsinki has convinced him he made the right choice. He is learning from colleagues with decades of experience while building the technical and people skills he will need for the next stage of his career. He credits a supportive site team where he feels comfortable asking questions.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>I wanted to join the best graduate programme in the sector. For me, Mercury\u2019s is the best in Europe.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Osi sees a future in construction management and, longer term, project leadership. Hazel is building on the commercial responsibility she has gained in Amsterdam and Zurich. Colm has his sights set on project management.
